Where are the OTHER 20th Anniversary Deluxe packages??

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by The Red Hot Chili Peppers
and
Metallica by Metallica
were both 1991 albums. Why aren't they releasing deluxe re-issues for these classic albums? Nevermind by Nirvana isn't the only 20-year old album this year that needs attention...

None of these albums needs attention. The albums are available. Listen to them if you want.

by "attention," I mean "the perks." All the extras associated with "deluxe anniversary editions."

Blood Sugar Sex Magik deserves some special treatment? That was pretty much in the arc of the shark jump. Now their debut and Freaky Styley? Those deserve recognition.

One would assume there will be deluxe editions of Screamadelica and Loveless.

I assume the RHCP didn't want to put one out since they have a new CD to promote?

I'd like to have deluxe editions for Gish, Trompe Le Monde, and Badmotorfinger.

Sony UK announced remastered editions of Isn't Anything and Loveless back in 2008. The release date has been pushed back so often that amazon.co.uk stopped taking preorders.

Their jump the shark album . Really?? Why exactly because it produced some hits for the band that makes it bad? It's arguably one of their best albums and truthfully I've heard the first album. It's a steaming pile of crap. The first two Chili Peppers albums are really nothing special at all.

It's amazing how the band could maintain such a level of consistency throughout a long career.

I've never thought they were fantastic but they've made some decent albums in their time. The Uplift Mofo Party Plan, Mother's Milk, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, and Californication are all really good albums. By The Way was pretty good too.

What's the worst that could happen? Earlier this year R.E.M. put out their 25th anniversary of "Lifes Rich Pageant" only a few weeks after they put out their new studio album "Collapse Into Now" and nothing bad happened to them.

Maybe Anthony Kiedis said he hated widescreen movies.

I like some RHCP songs, and I enjoy "Mother's Milk", but they aren't my favorite group ever.

They are an alright secondary or tertiary band.

What happened to the Smashing Pumpkins "deluxe editions?" I haven't kept up with news on them but I seem to recall that Corgan was putting them together for release starting this year?

That's because EMI/Capitol has no new RHCP material to release so they just have to re-release what they already have in the vaults. Flea did the liner notes for those releases so I certainly wouldn't say that they were made without the band's approval (though I've read that Keidis is actively uninterested in revisiting older material) but I don't think the band initiated that reissue campaign either. They came out within a year of "By the Way", I don't think the band actively promoted them etc.

If Warner Bros. wants to release new RHCP material they'll release new RHCP material. I'm sure if they ever parted ways with Warner the reissues would begin.

They're still happening -

"Billy Billy Corgan
Having fun listening to fresh new @studiodog mixes of 'moleasskiss'/'hello kitty'/'plume'/'usa'/'ussr' for Siamese reissues
19 Sep

"Billy Billy Corgan
with the reissues of all the SP albums coming up, we are looking to purchase any original footage of the band, particularly early days
12 Sep"

Doesn't sound like they'll be out this year, though.

Thanks for the info. Until I read this thread I hadn't thought about them since the original article months ago and I could have sworn it said at least one or two of them would be out this fall. Guess that changed though.

Yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath on those coming out any time soon.

I don't like them, have never liked them, but I don't have any fascination with it. I'm more interested in the OP's fascination with destroying BSSM, an album I don't like but acknowledge that it was mixed and mastered right the first time.
