Re: Mad Men S4, $9.99 at amazon
More a hope since seasons 1-3 were that price in a Black Friday deal last year. It might happen but is Amazon known for repeating Black Friday deals year to year?

Re: Mad Men S4, $9.99 at amazon
Yes, it's a hope based on past history, but I think it's less likely to happen this year. Just a gut feeling and also since I want S4 for $9.99. Last summer I had already bought the first 3 Mad Men in the $15-$20 range (and my return window had just passed), so when Amazon had S1-S3 on BD for $9.99 the whole BF week, I was unhappy and said I wouldn't buy any more Mad Men BD seasons until they're $10. Therefore, as much as I and others would like to hope to see a repeat of this deal, I doubt S4 will be $9.99 again... more likely $14.99, if at all. I also got burned on Breaking Bad S1-S2 BDs, so it just means that with my lower price point for BD seasons, I might be waiting a couple years. Fortunately I'm still in Mad Men S1, so I don't know when I'll reach or need S4.

And Best Buy comes through. Mad Men Seasons 1 - 4 in SD and Blu will be $8.99 on Black Friday per the ad just posted. I hope Amazon matches the deal or Best Buy puts the deal online .

Re: Mad Men S4, $9.99 at amazon
That's why I laugh every time someone sends a PM request or hopes for a PM from Amazon on any deal outside "the big 3" B&M retailers (BB, Target, Walmart). Am I missing any other retailers that Amazon PMs? I think the bigger issue will be can we all hit the Buy button on Mad Men S4 BD for $8.99 before it goes out of stock in 2 seconds during Amazon's lightning deal or will Amazon not put it on sale until BF at midnight when most of us are out in the stores because they keep moving up BF on us (next year I'm afraid it'll start sometime on Thanksgiving day)? Sadly there's nobody in my household who is capable of hitting the Buy button fast enough except for me if I'm away.

I've heard nothing but good things about this series, but I have yet to see a single episode. Should I splurge and spoil myself with it on Blu or just stream it? I love this period in history, but does the show do much location work or does it utilize mostly on interior sets? If it's the former the Blu would be much more attractive. Advice?

It is mostly interior shots in S1, though they do show his house and neighborhood. You know what I like so much about it: that it's directed in the old style where cameramen actually understand what a dolly is for. No McG or Tony Scott "I think I'm so cool so I'm going to shake the camera until you're dizzy" style. Sadly decent directing is so rare these days. I could really get on a soapbox and rant, but suffice it to say that if I notice the directing gimmicks while watching, it's bad directing... and I do notice every shake and quick cut in most modern series (which has a lot to do with why I don't watch them). So a big thumbs up to Mad Men which at least in the episodes I've watched so far haven't done any directing gimmicks to distract me.

Thanks Manzana! I trust your judgment and agree with you about the sad state of over directing from the last 25+ years, since the advent of MTV. I will probably go for this if it does hit that price point.
