Re: Breaking Bad -- "Salud" -- 9/18/11
In the first season, there was that episode where Jesse and Badger kept trying to cook meth in the desert, but Jesse kept tossing it out because it wasn't as pure as Walt's.
However, what Dragon Tattoo is referring to is early on in the third season, Jesse seemingly did make a batch of blue meth, that Walt eventually did admit was as good as his (when he was trying to get Jesse to come work with him after Hank beat him up).
However, I wonder if he'll be able to handle a superlab by himself. We don't know what the division of labor in the current lab is like, and even if Jesse can operate all the equipment there, he might not know enough about the chemistry to replicate the formula in a different lab (different equipment, etc).

Walt mentioned in the first episode of the season about Victory may know the steps but he doesn't know how to compensate for different temperatures or whatever random X factor may play part. I.E. humidity of a different clement area would be a major factor to contribute in this.

Holy hell... changing the game! And it's not even the second or third to last of the season.
I hope we don't lose Mike. I've really grown to like him!

Best TV show of all time. I actually want Gus to pull through, just so Jesse or Walt can kill him.
This show is visual meth.

That was an awesome episode. I mean, you knew the double-cross was coming, but it was just such a tense moment watching the party and knowing the poison was about to kick in. I figured Gus had taken some sort of antidote or something to neutralize the poison, but I guess he was counting on being able to throw up, which does seem a bit risky.
I'm much less concerned about what's going on with Walt at this point; the trio of Gus, Mike, and Jesse is far more interesting to watch.
And I'm definitely over this nonsense between Skyler and Ted and trying to give him the money. I think it's dragging the episodes down a bit and taking away from the far more compelling Gus vs. The Cartel storyline; or at least replace their scenes with Hank doing some detective work, which is much more engaging a storyline as well.

Also, it was a great moment to see Jesse triumphantly produce Walt's formula. For someone who really doesn't have much, you could sort of tell he really needed that type of win right about now. Along those same lines, you could sort of see a bit of fatherly pride in Mike's eyes when Jesse stood up to the chemist.

The speech between Walt and Junior was brilliant. They way I interpret that discussion was, Walt totally had the cancer come back. He more or less confessed it to his son and the explanation of his father's illness sealed it.
The series just keeps getting better and better. Shame there are only 19 total episodes left.

Walt and Jess as the tragic heroes, that's why I love this show, they are so flawed and relatable.

Mike strangling the cartel security guy was brutal - he started while Gus was in the bathroom, and was still going when he came out of the house. Gus was badass, as usual. They're forming quite the team.
Like others, I took Walt's talk with Jr. to mean the cancer has returned. That was a great scene. Walt Jr's line was piercing (paraphrased): "It wouldn't be bad to remember you like this. It would be bad to remember you the way you've been the past year." Ouch. I wonder if that will change Walt's path.
Can't wait to see these last three episodes.
