Looks like just more fluff to me. Can anyone confirm if this is a new transfer, or the same old 2006-era VC1 encode with the same lousy bitrate around 18 Mbit/sec? My expectations are low, but for $40+ we should get more than just added fluff.

Stick with the lovely DVD version with most of the same material already on it.
In fact, I need to see if my 10 year old niece has actually seen this film yet and if not, show it to her.

I have this on HD DVD. I'm mildly tempted by this set, but I'd be paying $50 for some useless crap and the same transfer.

What's on the bonus disc?? It says it's a new interview and featurette disc. I'm doubtful it's much of anything.

If it's the same transfer as the HD-DVD, someone at Warner is definitely blind.

The entire cast of the children are making the Comic Con rounds for the 40th anniversay, for those cities they still haven't visited yet (like Austin Nov 11th), this would be a nice item to have signed.

Well, thanks to the WB Insider loophole, I was able to get this set for free. I must admit it's very well done. The case is sturdy, the included collectibles are cool (I like the old correspondences) and the BD/DVD set has cool packaging. Great edition for this film.

I don't think the mono track has been available in a long time, not since the 25th anniversary reissue (the theatrical prints of that were stereo with Dolby Digital.) The extra mono track on the laserdisc was used for an isolated music and effects track which is pretty interesting.

Nope- all editions since 1996 have been from the 25th anniversary print (though admittedly I can't remember if the HD-DVD or later DVD special editions still have the Warner Bros Family Entertainment opening.)
