Re-Animator on Blu-Ray Soon

Barbara Crampton joined Twitter recently. (Although she's not verified, several of my press friends talk to and have interviewed her in person, so it's definitely her.) She's very responsive, so I asked her about Re-Animator. Today, she got back to me:

Not the most watertight, foolproof info in the world, but still, sounds good to me.

Re: Re-Animator on Blu-Ray Soon

As excited as a Blu-Ray release for this movie would make me, I'm still kinda hesitant. Anchor Bay stated a LONG time ago that they were working on this movie (along with Phantasm, Hellraiser II, The Evil Dead, and the UE of Dawn Of The Dead), but in that time, we've seen them move away from catalog releases, and let their stuff go to other companies (such as Image, which is now doing Hellraiser II, and apparently hasn't been doing the best job so far). Hopefully this'll get a great Blu release, but I'll have to wait and see what's going on with the title first...

Re: Re-Animator on Blu-Ray Soon

Yeah, that's definitely her twitter. I met her and Stuart Gordon a few weeks ago at a Re-Animator/From Beyond screening at the New Beverly in Hollywood.

I would LOVE for this to come to blu with all the previous extras. Same for the UE Dawn.

Re: Re-Animator on Blu-Ray Soon

I'd be in, but as noted above, I'm skeptical about any AB catalog titles getting released on Blu-ray. Phantasm would absolutely be #1 for me.

About six months late, but it is coming out! September 4, 2012 from Image

Amazon link
It's also going to be released in the UK by Second Sight, as will Bride of Re-Animator, so I'm sure some of us will be waiting to see which one will be the one to get.

Re: Re-Animator on Blu-Ray Soon

$12.58 is too good of a price to pass up for a pre-order. If the reviews aren't good I'll cancel but for now I'm locked in

I have the Elite LD, DVD and Millennium DVD and I'm sure something will be left off as usual so we have to keep them.

Re: Re-Animator on Blu-Ray Soon

People elsewhere are worried because apparently other horror titles Image released on Bd were all poor from an A/V standpoint.
OTOH, the Sony titles they released that I picked up all looked excellent. Hopefully this one will be more in line with the latter.

For $12.58 I'll upgrade over the first anamorphic release (in the large green 2 disc amaray case) that I rushed out to pick up a Media Play the day it streeted ages ago...and still have yet to watch.

Wasn't Image Entertainment responsible for the recent BD 'Midnight Madness Series' releases of Hellraiser and The Hills Have Eyes?

Both of those had very low MSRPs and both weren't received very well.

I will probably wait until reviews come out for this one. Luckily Region Free folks have the option of the Second Sight UK release as well.

I'm going to wait for the reviews on this one. Image's Midnight Madness releases haven't been very good.

Hopefully, the Second Sight one will be good...

Would be nice if we could get the full combined cut so I can dump my fan edit.

While it's not a guarantee it will be everything, this is encouraging:
DVD and BD packed with bonus features (existing from earlier DVD releases), including audio commentaries from the film's director, producer and cast, interviews, extended scenes, galleries, and more!

As long as this comes with a fluorescent-green syringe highlighter I'll be happy.

How's the quality? I wasn't aware of a fan edit, but I assume it includes everything from both cuts.

Re: Re-Animator on Blu-Ray Soon

From the press release:

Rating: R

Run Time: 95 minutes
I hope that's a misprint. If not, I'll wait on the Second Sight disc.

Re: Re-Animator on Blu-Ray Soon

^ they'd be utterly stupid to release this R rated, since the whole point of the movie was to see and witness the full unrated version that was released as such to the theater in the first place.

GET YOUR PITCHFORKS READY BOYS!

I'm sure it's a misprint, but considering it's Image, I don't know...

Re: Re-Animator on Blu-Ray Soon

The R-Rated cut is like 10 minutes longer than the unrated cut correct?

Yup!

If I'm not mistaken a bunch of addition/non-violent scenes were film to add runtime.
