Favorite Gus Van Sant Film
I'm going to have to choose Paranoid Park. It was a really hard decision, as I think most everything he's done is wonderful (save for a few mid-late 90s films, and i'm not including Good Will Hunting).
This really isn't what you think is his best, or most accomplished film, but your personal favorite.

Drugstore Cowboy wins. Great flick and it shows us a very real life of an addict.
Good Will Hunting is so aesthetically pleasing and well crafted, that I could watch it any time.

Re: Favorite Gus Van Sant Film
He's made quite a few great films, but my favorite is probably "Paranoid Park." "Gerry" and "Drugstore Cowboy" are other all-time favorites.
On the other hand, "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" is one of my least favorite movies, ever.

The only movies of his I don't care for are Even Cowgirls Get the Blues and Finding Forrester. I haven't seen Restless.
I voted for My Own Private Idaho.

I will say Milk, because it is so important, it has the power of change... through humanizing gay people. Yet also as a film it is full of style and great cinematography, and a legendary Penn role.

01. To Die For
02. My Own Private Idaho
03. Good Will Hunting
I don't love his latest output much either, but at least he does these 'small' films a lot better than, say, Soderbergh. Something like Gerry or Elephant totally trump films like Full Frontal and Girlfriend Experience.

I've only seen Good Will Hunting, Psycho (in theaters!), and Elephant. I liked GWH the most, although it was a close call with Elephant.
I went to see Psycho because I went through a period where I liked to be able to claim I saw infamous movies in the theaters. After seeing Battlefield Earth, that kind of killed it.

Good Will Hunting, by a wide mahgin.
See what I did there?
Elephant was also excellent, but the subject matter is too distasteful for repeat viewings.

Anybody like his Psycho remake?
Yeah....didn't think so.
As a huge fan of the original.....I thought GVS's odd shot-by-shot take was a bold endeavor with a top notch cast. Though in retrospect, VV in the Perkins role, considering his career path, seems almost surreal.
Van Sant is, if nothing else, always interesting.

Whichever one didn't have gay sex shoehorned in.
I don't think any of his films are remarkable, but I think off that list I remember enjoying To Die For when I was younger, for obvious reasons.

I've seen 7 out of the 12. I actually think Gus does a greater job with the simplistic, straightforward work (Good Will Hunting,Milk) Voted for GWH as my favorite.
