I'll admit it. I'm a reality tv junkie. I'll also admit that a lot of it is junk tv that bores the snot out of me. But here is my list of favorites:


10. Wife Swap - sounded dirty to me, then I saw the real concept. Have a voodoo priestess mom live with a Christian family for a week and vice versa. It was fun seeing just all the kooky and oddball ways that families run the households. One of my favorites was the dad who only fed his children raw meat and cried when they went ate a real cooked hamburger.


9. Man vs Wild - Bear is just fucking insane, and I rarely feel like I learned anything useful, but it's fun watching him tame nature.


8. Deadliest Catch - I had just started a summer job, and first day they had me moving heavy equipment for 12 hours straight. I was so beat that I checked into a hotel, and crashed. The only thing on tv was a marathon Deadliest Catch and I immediately was fascinated by these guys who are willing to die for a freaking job.


7. Black Gold - dang, I love this show. I learn about oil rigs and the whole work ethics in this world. Big Texas egos usually means lots of yelling and fights. haha

6. Ice Road Truckers - love it for the same reason as Deadliest Catch


5. Celebrity Apprentice - who doesn't love to see big name celebrities fight and bicker? Dang, it gets nasty on this show. lol


4. WWE Tough Enough - So glad they brought this back. People who complain about wrestling being fake needs to watch this show and see just how real and PAiNFUL wrestling is. Every season, someone gets hurt too. But it's fun seeing these greenhorns being treated as whipping boys by the pros.


3. American Idol - This show is so addicting. Even if you don't wanna admit that you like it, there is just a draw that keeps you tuned in. And I think Ryan is an outstanding host. I do get tired of them ignoring rock music and sucking up to Motown and crap.


2. Rockstar Inxs/Supernova - screw you, AI. Rockstar blew the lid off AI with outstanding talent, and good kick ass rock music. American idol contestants look pathetic compared to the likes of Ryan Star and JD Fortune. I was sad to see this show go as it gave a unique look into the intermechanics of being a rock star.


1. Survivor - still the best and going strong. The show never gets boring.

8.Kid Nation (Even though I kinda think the parents who let their kids go on that show should have their heads examined the show was very entertaining.In general I think it showed a mostly positive outlook on the human condition).

Even though I watch BB and Survivor every season both are wildly inconsistent btwn really compelling tv and really just overly produced and unentertaining but you stick with it cause you been watching so long seasons .

1. Last Comic Standing -- always a sucker for stand-up
2. Storage Wars - they pay too much for those lockers and overestimate their profits, but every once in a while they really make out.
3. America's Got Talent -- I enjoy this -- as long as I can tape it and scan through the long introductions, fake drawn-out suspense at elimination time and most of the singing acts.
4. Hollywood Treasures -- auction house sells Hollywood memorabilia -- on SyFy
5. Pawn Stars -- as much as I hate the trend on the History Channel of reality shows, this one is OK -- though I do get tired of Chumley and the Old Man.
6. Rock of Love - I doubt I would watch it today, but enjoyed it OK during its initial run
7. Beauty and the Geek - I doubt I would watch it today, but enjoyed it OK during its initial run
8. Dancing with the Stars -- I've only kept up with this once -- the season with Stacy Keibler and Nick L. -- usually watch bits and pieces, but don't care to follow it anymore.
9. Extreme Couponing -- DVD Talkers taken to an extreme -- hundreds of dollars of groceries for literally pennies on the dollar.

Never watched American Idol, Survivor, Bachelor (or any incarnation) or any model shows. I've watched bit and pieces of other reality shows, esp. on E!, but don't really keep up with them or make a point of watching them. Don't care for Jersey Shore either.

A lot of these I consider to be game shows rather than reality shows, but they fall into that category at the Emmy Awards.

1. The Mole - I love the concept so much that I've actually sought out the foreign versions of the show (some are just as good, maybe even better).
2. The Amazing Race - My love is kind of fading after all these years, but it's one of only a few of these shows that I feel is worth owning seasons on DVD.

4. Mythbusters
5. The Osbournes - Great memories of hysterical laughter. I resent that it lead to the insane glut of trashy, day-in-the-life of spoiled rich people reality shows.
6. Treasure Hunters - I really liked the concept, even with its glaring flaws.
7. Big Brother - Poor man's Survivor, really poor man.
8. Road Rules - It was really good to start with, but it just became a joke after a handful of seasons
9. The Real World - It took a little longer to get truly crappy than Road Rules did, but I liked Road Rules better at its peak. The Real World is still fun to tune into now and again just to watch oversexed morons get wasted and act really stupid.
10. Jersey Shore - It was really funny, but I only ever completed the first season. I watched parts of the second and third seasons only to stop caring after awhile. I've had no desire to watch the current season.

No one's mentioned Shark Tank. I'm not a fan of reality shows (I DO like Survivor), but there's something about the wheeling and dealing on Shark Tank that appeals to me.
