Can we just skip to the last 10 minutes of episode 9 where Black Shawn( or Franco, or Lou or Shiela, or whoever) dies?

I thought it was pretty good. The stuff with the letters was well done, and I was glad to see Franco put in his place a little (though his suddenly acting like the world's biggest d-bag never quite made sense to me).

Lou setting Janet's kitchen (and himself) on fire was predictable yet hilarious.

Good episode, the ending with Tommy and Lou was fucking hysterical.

One thing I found kinda weird, I was watching this with captioning and when Lou finished reading Tommy's better, before mouthing "you're such an asshole" in the captioning there was another line of dialogue from the letter that wasn't in there. It had Tommy saying "PS. Don't Let Franco sleep with Janet." Wonder why it was omitted from the episode, but left in the captioning.

His character has been becoming a 'd-bag' over the past couple of seasons. Probably to give him some separation from the other characters and not be so vanilla.

Then again give some people a little power and their nature changes. Either way.

I thought Lou explaining Tommy Gavin to Sheila was one of the finer points in the show's history.

I really thought this episode was a tremendous upswing from much of its recent history. While it may not have been typical (loved) Rescue Me, much of the emotional play was logical for the characters and dealt with very humorously.

It wasn't a bad episode, in fact it was pretty good. The thing is, after so much time and emotion I have invested in this show I can't help thinking these last few episodes should be... somehow MORE.

if these were letters to be handed out upon Tommy's death, and Lou accidentally destroyed Janet's, and rewrote it, why would the letter say that he was "retiring" from the FDNY?

maybe nobody but Lou knew the letters as a deathbed confession kind of thing until after they read them, and then when the did, they didn't really share the details. that was the only thing I could come up with.

I'm guessing there's going to be
Spoiler:
a huge fire at or near the wedding where half the cast ends up dead.
