Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street Collection (1-7) UK - Details and Price!

So I could get all the films in one BD set for $55 minus most of the extra material we're likely to get here?

Meh. I've already got NoES on BD. I'll grab 2/3 for around a $10 price point. If 4/5 and 6/7 double features follow suit, I can get the series for $30~.

And, yes, I have no problem waiting for any sequels past 3.

We have no proof they were ever be a US Collection and if it will have the same or more features.

Wheres Lethal Weapon Collection?

Typically Warner stuff is the same.

I really want to pick this up, but I will wait on reviews of the A/V quality first.

I don't really care about a collection, though. I'm fine with them eventually popping out 2 more double feature discs (along with their respective bonus materials) and calling it a day.

And the LW collection is set for 2012, last I heard. But I know what you're saying.

When it came to The Goonies, it was the same exact disc mastered years before elsewhere in the world.

I haven't seen an instance yet with Warner where discs were different based upon territory.

The list of special features is totally incomplete. The list doesn't include anything from the existing Nightmare Blu or the features on the double feature, nor make any mention of the all-new doc that was mentioned on the disc art in another photo. Looking forward to a complete list, although I suspect it will basically be the contents of the Nightmare Encyclopedia and the original Blu, plus the new doc.

It's on 4 discs, that is almost a non-buy for me. 7 movies on 4 discs is pretty overkill

That's my reasoning as well. Slightly off-topic, but is anyone going to this year's Rock/Shock convention in Worcester, MA? Many Nightmare alum will be there, including Englund, Langenkamp, Amanda Wyss, Mark Patton and Ken Sagoes, so it'll be a nice opportunity to get your Nightmare memorabilia signed. I'll probably just have them autograph my Nightmare and Nightmare II & III Blu-rays. I was consdering ponying up for an original poster from the first film, but they're selling for $300.

1
2/3
4/5
6/7

On 50GB Discs. It won't be any better if it was coming to the US.

Plenty of space for a 90 minute flick with lossless.

This looks like I pretty good alternative to waiting for the U.S. version. As others have said, I'll wait a bit longer to read some reviews and get a more complete look at the extras on the set.

I'm not attending, but one of my best friends is a rep for the clients and he's there every year. I typically find, as you did, that original poster go for big $ (depending on the film), so I usually scour eBay for something rare, foreign and mostly-unseen. There are some fantastic foreign Elm St. posters (the Italian one is awesome) that I'm sure you could snag for a fraction of the cost.

Yeah, foreign posters always have a bizarre, unique feel to them. I've got these three replicas hanging on my wall in a row:

Plus the Japanese Nightmare:

That's a good suggestion on the Italian poster though, it's quite striking, and only half the cost.

I'll be waiting to place an order. I'm feeling the box set won't be a retail exclusive in North America, but I'll wait for the price to dip for the UK box set... which it will as it's a Warner title.

So it's basically just all the stuff from the Encyclopedia put on numerous discs and 2 episodes of Freddy's Nightmares? Doesn't sound too appealing.

Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street Collection (1-7) UK - Details and Price!

Well, even though I already have the first one, getting all the movies at once sounds MUCH more appealing than waiting for the other sequels to come out after the first double feature, and I was quite pleased ordering the UK Superman box for a great deal less than the US counterpart, so I'll probably bite on it...

I also will wait for the reviews, but that said, even though I don't love all of them, I wouldn't mind getting them. Probably in for this vs. US double features.

Anyone else confused by the fact that they include two episodes of Freddy's Nightmares, but not the first episode which actually focuses on Freddy?

Probably rights issues. People on Twitter were saying the US release might drop those eps because there's even more issues in the States.

The UK box looks exactly as I thought it might, and that's fine by me. I'll prob spring for this knowing it has all the extras doled out.

Do blu-rays in PAL exhibit the speed/audio pitch problems like VHS and DVDs conversions have in the past?
