I did a thread last year asking the same question, but some posters thought it was incomplete, so I thought I would ask it again.

How long does it take for you to watch all your recorded content off your DVRs?

I just finished and deleted the last episode of In Treatment a couple days ago.

Everything else on there is fairly recent except for 10 episodes of Boardwalk Empire...I enjoyed what I saw but life got in the way and whatever...will finish before season 2 however.

I've got eps. of No Reservations that I recorded six months ago that I still haven't watched. Will get to them eventually when I've burned off more recent shows. Just not in a rush to watch Anthony Bourdain in Malaysia.

Besides the first time getting a DVR, I don't remember a time when my DVR was empty.

depends... some things I watch the next day...... others, ie episodes of Nikita, Hawaii 5-0, and Flashpoint sitting there for awhile... finished watching Southland about 1.5 months ago....

I agree with you that it sort of depends on the show. I have 2 months of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern saved that I casually watch, but it's not "Must See"

Once the cool talked about stuff like Nikita, Vampire Diaries, Hawaii Five-O, Mad Men, Walking Dead start, those all get watched night of or within a few days at most.

The problem with stacking stuff is HD records eat up alot of DVR space. I know my records off The CW eat up 3-4% DVR space for a 1 hour episode. Those have to get watched ASAP.

Not on tv shows, those I tend to watch within a week or two. I have some movies from late last year/early this year that I haven't gotten around to yet.

Not sure how I'd vote in this poll. I have a large HD, and I tend to TiVo A LOT of stuff ... over 150 hours. Some I'm very interested in and will watch the night of or within a day or two. And, when i get close to using up the HD space, TiVo (with it's Tivo Desktop and TiVo-To-Go feature) allows me to transfer shows to my pc hard drive. I can and have burned a fair amount of shows to blank DVDs to keep.

I often record a fair amount of stuff just to make sure that if nothing else is on that I normally watch I have a wide selection to choose from. History channel shows; PBS shows; Food Network shows; Travel Channel; Discovery, various movies and docus, etc etc. Some I never get around to watching. Some take 6 months to a year or longer to watch.

If it's a show I follow and/or like, I watch the night of or the next day or two -- currently such shows like Breaking Bad; Covert Affairs; Combat Hospital; Royal Pains; White Collar; Falling Skies; Big Brother.

So, Im not sure where my answer to your poll would go.

Breaking Bad and Curb I watch usually the same night (I work until 10 on Sunday's so I don't get to see them as they air). Usually I just keep the episodes of Conan and Craig on there a while and watch a few at a time when I'm bored. I try not to let more than 4 or 5 stack up though. As soon as USA airs a marathon of the newest Burn Notice season (after the half season is done) I'll record that and hopefully get through it pretty fast.

Stuff I watch with the wife tends to be next day. Stuff I watch with the family tends to be over the weekend. Stuff I watch by myself can sit around for a while. I have the complete fourth season of Chuck sitting on my DVR waiting for me to finish season 3 on BD.

With OnDemand, Netflix, Hulu, HBOGo, etc. we only record the shows that we are going to watch in the week.

The shows that we both watch, the wife and me, we watch them almost "live" from the DVR. She watches a lot of reality tv, but she tries to watch them the same night or the day after.

For me it's sometimes the exact opposite. My most regular TV watching is the hour or two before I got to bed and I'm often not in the mood for a serial drama then and would prefer some lighter fair. So things like Mythbusters or Top Gear get watched fairly quickly while heavier shows may get archived for marathon viewing when I'm in the mood.

I don't have a DVR, but I do tape (yes, VHS) some shows. Those I watch within a few days because I reuse the same tapes.

Now most of the stuff I watch is on-demand and I can be as much as a month behind since I prioritize most shows by when they fall off of on-demand -- except for Breaking Bad, which I watch immediately.

Monday I watch the Sunday night recordings, Tuesday is Monday night, and so on. I'm usually a day behind on everything but then I catch up on the weekends for the shows that I can't get to since some nights are more packed than others.

I guess the one good thing of having the old Comcast DVR with a small HD is that it forces me to watch and delete asap. If I had a 250GB+ HD I know I'd have shit sitting on that thing forever, lol

I've noticed lately that most TV shows I'll watch the night of or the following night (sometimes they get pushed to the weekends on heavier nights). But I do have the last 10 episodes of "Good Wife" and "Treme" sitting waiting for me to get in the mood.

Movies can stay on forever if I didn't record them to DVDR's...

I use a disk management algorithm for watching shows. I record a lot of TV shows, almost all in HD. I record a lot of movies, mostly in HD, but older, non-widescreen TCM movies I record in SD to conserve space. To free up space, I almost always watch all my HD programming, series first and then movies, before SD programming (the exception being My So-Called Life on Sundance, which I only get in SD). Since I seemingly never run out of HD series to watch, I've got SD movies recorded from TCM that have been sitting unwatched for several months. The HD movies only sit around for a couple of weeks max.

I have this anal obsession to keep my new DVR clean. For shows during the prime season, I will usually watch next day. Movies I don't tape many, but within three to five at the most. Usually end up deleting bc I don't have the time or patience for some reason to get through them.

My dvr is 100% empty after five days or so and keeps clean for days.

I tend to let stuff pile up, particularly if I record a cluster of things off of the Science Channel or History Channel.

Big Brother After Dark can be a bitch since it's three hours every fucking night, so it's easy to fall behind on that... fortunately it's pretty easy to FF though the boring bits.

I watch almost everything though the DVR these days. When you can FF through commercials, you reduce your TV watching time by a good 25%. So instead of sitting through four hours of programming, I can do it in three.

This is me. I usually watch my shows within one day or two of recording them. Currently I have three movies sitting there: two I'm saving for the Oscar Challenge and the last I don't really want to watch but I have to. It pains me when my DVR has less than 75% of its space available.

I have stuff on my DVR from 2008. If I don't get around to it within a week of recording it. It generally sits for a while.
