AMC-HD video quality on Fios

Forgive me if this is the wrong forum. I have Verizon Fios in Rockland, MA and watch AMC in HD. I noticed during "The Killing" and now with the return of Breaking Bad, that the HD video on the channel is very inconsistent. Often, the color is a noisy mess, with color seeming oversaturated to the point I feel like I'm watching with a pair of rabbit ears on a TV in the basement.

Other channels seem fine, though I know that FIOS is known to have a very strong signal. Just wondering if any other forum members have encountered anything similar.

For reference, I am watching a 46" Sony LCD XBR5 through a TiVo Series 3.

Thanks,

Thos.

I've noticed that AMC's HD channel is not so HQ regardless of the service provider.

Yep. On Comcast it's not so hot much of the time. I do, however, find AMC-HD shows seem to look better OnDemand than "live". Not sure if that's my imagination or not, but I've encountered this to be the case on both Breaking Bad and The Killing....

If I recall whoever owns AMC and it's sister channels changed their encoding techniques a few months back thus lowering the bandwidth it would take to carry those channels. I've seen a lot of complaints about the quality since that time.

[SARCASM] With all of this bandwith lowering I eagerly look forward to a retroactive kickback from Comcast...[/SARCASM]

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r261...its-a-new-low.

More then most care to know but here's a guy that says the bit rate for AMC was the lowest it's been for the BB premiere.
