^^^ It doesn't look like it. According to IMDB, Episode 201 (the season premiere) is directed by Tim Van Patten, who is HBO's #1 director. I would expect Van Patten to direct at least half of the 12 episodes with other TV guest directors doing the rest.

He's directed Game of Thrones, The Pacific, The Sopranos, Rome, The Wire and Sex and the City along with Boardwalk Empire. From the episodes that I have seen directed by him, he's a very talented guy and can handle large scale productions. He impressed the hell out of me with the work he did on The Pacific.

I can't wait for Season 2 now that I have HBO as part of my Comcast cable subscription.

Question though: has HBO announced when will Season 1 be available on DVD/Blu-ray home video release? Will be a few weeks before Season 2 premiere as per standard practice on HBO?

It hasn't been announced yet. Given that Season 2 starts in September, I'd be very surprised if we see the Season 1 DVDs before then.

I really enjoyed season 1 and hope for more of the same quality in season 2. Steve Buscemi and Kelly Macdonald were both excellent.
