I forced my way thru last seasons episodes, and am glad I did, primarily for the last couple of episodes. I hate the new guy, I really do... but I'm in. I stuck with it because the thought of a Sam Axe movie got me reenergized for the show, but we all know how much that ultimately sucked

Well.. I hope that's not the end of it. Kind of strange and wasn't too happy that Jessie quit to go into the private sector. Just glad to have it back.

I'm so tired of the never-ending CIA shit, so I'd be so happy if that's done with, but I assume it's not. Just go back to the A-Team type stories. That's always been the best part of this show.

the montage of Micahel kicking ass for the CIA in the begining was pretty cool, but I would have liked to have actually SEEN some of those missions... maybe spend the first 3 or 4 eps showcasing that stuff...

I'd like to see them change the intro. Five seasons in, you'd expect people to know the concept of the show by now.

Same for me. The ongoing story is boring and needs to end. I like the weekly stories.

It was just a bad wrap up with the death of Kessler. Maybe if this were a 2 hour premiere, I'd buy it more, instead of getting some weak Osama inspired ending. And I doubt that's the end of it.
And as far as Jessie, I don't really see the agency letting him quit just like that. not that he was used much in the episode other then to remind us and Michael that he's still going to be around for the weekly case.
I would have much preferred to have the show taken out of Miami and focus more on Michael. Yes, Fi and Sam are a big part of the show, but it needed to switch gears.

Yeah, weird premiere. Felt more like a season ender, or even series ender. If he's un-burned, where does the season/show go from here?

I got mixed feeling from this episode. Plenty of good, but also a few things I didn't like. About Kessler, did not like the way that ended, and was also disappointed Michael was back in Miami by the end of the opening credits. I was hoping for more in Washington.

Contrast that with Royal Pains when they always show his fuck-up and hospital-expulsion from the pilot in the "Previously On...." part.

Re: Burn Notice -- Season Premiere -- "Company Man" -- 6/23/11
I just watched it on DVR now. Certainly not stellar, but not bad.
I was kind of multi-tasking, getting ready for work tomorrow, so I didn't pay attention TOO closely; did they show Kessler's wound? Not that Michael SHOULDN'T know better, but is it possible he shot himself in a non-fatal way and took that heart-slowing drug that would not kill him right away, but let others think he was dead? If not, it really WAS a pretty sad ending to this journey so far. And doesn't really bode well for future episodes without the COW plot line.

Overall it was interesting to see the dynamic shift with Fiona and Sam forced to the outside of the mission only to save the day. This plot also served to allow the remaining season to move on with "business as usual" for the crew back in Miami until the CIA tags Michael again for the occasional "one off" episodes. In the grand scheme of things, I think the showrunners are doing a good job of keeping Michael's story going without getting into a rut where he just needs to SOLVE the main conflict of the burn.

Re: Burn Notice -- Season Premiere -- "Company Man" -- 6/23/11
Although I doubt it's how it was intended but the scene with Sam and Fi bitching about the limitless funds and high-tech gadgets of the CIA felt like a jab at season two of Human Target. I got a chuckle outta that.
Overall, I enjoyed the premier and think rfduncan is on the money. This was all setup to keep Michael on the "case of the week" format that suits the show best while leaving the door open for an episode every so often dedicated to the burn notice.
