If they remade Jaws...

I know this would be awful, but my friend and I were going over who we would cast for the main actors and here it goes. What would you do?

Chief Martin Brody: Timothy Olyphant, consideration to Christan Bale

Sam Quint: Josh Brolin, consideration to Jeff Bridges and Mickey Rouke

Matt Hooper: Paul Giamatti

Mayor Larry Vaughn: James Woods, consideration to Christpher Walken

Hendricks: Colin Hanks, consideration to John C. Reilly

Ellen Brody: Natalie Portman why not she's in everything else.

Nicolas Cage agent called and said he wanted in. So he will be Jaws.

Re: If they remade Jaws...

if they remade Jaws, they're only hope for success is if the mechanical shark fails on them, too. But since they would use CGI, THE FILM WILL FAIL!

Or, considering today's teen audience, it would be a massive blockbuster hit film.

Re: If they remade Jaws...

A Jaws remake would probably be an interesting sell for today's audiences. If they sold it as a medium-budgeted horror movie I could see it getting some traction, but I don't think they could sell a killer shark movie as a big blockbuster event film in this day and age.

To differentiate it from Spielberg's film, a remake should stick to Benchley's book.

That's like burning your house down and forgetting you never got fire insurance. Benchley's book was horrible.

Re: If they remade Jaws...

Hasn't the SyFy Channel already done a few hundred remakes of JAWS? Isn't that what all those MegaShark movies are based on?

Re: If they remade Jaws...

I can't believe I'm even saying this but that cast actually sounds pretty decent.

I agree that a remake would most likely fail miserably. I think most Jaws fans would boycott it or at most rent in on Netflix or something and I just don't think kids today would be at all interested in a shark movie with a bunch of old actors in it. They'd be "Huh? Wha?"

All they have to do is wait another 50 years, and all the Jaws fans will be dead, and then they can do whatever the hell they want.

Wouldn't it need to star the kids from Twilight and feature songs by Justin Bieber?

You lost me at Olyphant since I have no idea who that is even AFTER I wikipedia'd him. And Josh Brolin as Quint? C'mon. You need someone a bit more surly and ugly than John Brolin!

I think they could do a remake but they should out do Spielberg by barely showing the shark. Just glimpses of it underwater.

I'd cast Brian Cox as Quint and John C. Reilly as Hooper.
