America's Got Talent -- The One and Only Thread -- Premieres 5/31/11
By djariya at 2011-05-31
The series returns for the sixth season with host Nick Cannon and returning judges Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan and Howie Mandel. The two-hour premiere kicks off with auditions. The series is a true celebration of the American spirit featuring a colorful array of hopeful stars, including singers, dancers, comedians, contortionists, impressionists, jugglers, magicians and ventriloquists, all vying for their chance to strut and perform on stage hoping to win America's hearts -- and the $1 million prize.

They need to get a non-singing talent to win this year or have a year where they severely restrict the number of singers who advance.

Oh, my favorite summer show is back. This beats all of the 'talent shows'.
I was laughing so hard last night. First the guy in black tumbles off the stage, then the guy in white walks right off the stage. I had to skip back several times to see those again. And then the 'hot hot hot' guy and Nick dacing all over the stage - funny stuff.

I Don't understand that russian bar excitement. They kept saying how they've never seen an act like that ... but in one of the previous seasons they had exactly that act put her through but got injured before the semifinals. Does anyone else remember that act?

I missed last nights but Tuesdays was the worst episode I've seen of this series. It was literally 3 acts and 35 minutes of Howie Mandel clowning around. I like talent shows but that man is making it difficult as hell to watch.

i would like it if they actually showed the acts instead of the two second jump cuts. It gets dizzying at times the way they flash back and forth from the act to Howie mugging then back to the act.

Caught up by watching the last 2 eps On Demand...
still a good show, but Howie is picking way too many crap acts. Entertaining does not always mean good.
Can't believe they let the Minneapolis acts go on with only 2 judges.
I linked to this last year, but this blog is definitely worth following whole watching the show...

Anyone watching this?
I've never watched this show before, but wasting time with it this season. It is reasonably entertaining.
I must say one of the acts that surprises me the most is that male pole dancer. Both because I'm surprised they're even letting him on the show, which I respect, and also because he is quite good. I couldn't take my eyes off him.
Other than that, I totally thought that one dancer seriously injured herself during that pyramid collapse. Looked like she was choking to death.
And I really enjoyed that Dany girl, and totally respect her trying to do an original song, but that was bullshit letter her go again after totally botching the audition. And then they send her through but the other two girls home. I agree with the final result, but those girls have to be pissed when they saw that.
God I'm bored.

Yet again they put through way too many singers. I guess we'll have another season where a singer wins that wouldn't crack the top 30 on idol.

I think I might be giving up on this. Too many singers and not enough "unique" acts. Some of the acts put through made no sense at all.

I've been watching this show pretty much from the start. My favorite act always gets Third Place so i don't know why i bother anymore expecially since I hate that a singer always wins. It did suck for those two other female singers however i think dani was the best out of them.

I'm not usually big on dance groups, but I'm rooting for Team iLuminate based on their audition.

The family that did the motorcycle thing seems familiar to me. I saw an episode of Dr Phil awhi,e ago that featured families that use their children as entertainers and I'm pretty sure they where the Mai. Feature on that ep.
My opinion is not very hogh of these people who force their young children to perform very dangerous stunts.

Re: America's Got Talent -- The One and Only Thread -- Premieres 5/31/11
Well, I'm done with this season. Both this week and last week it came down to a magician versus another act, and the magicians always are not picked by the judges. I'd much rather pay to see illusions than some stupid dude jumping into a kiddie pool.
The only redeeming thing about this episode was seeing Fighting Gravity. Another shame that an act like this didn't win either.

I get sick of all the singers making it through, if I DVR the show, I usually fast forward through them, although I did enjoy the kids group. I was surprised the jump rope group didn't advance.

Re: America's Got Talent -- The One and Only Thread -- Premieres 5/31/11
This season is much worse than last season. (Thank God for on-demand and fast-forward).
The only acts I've really enjoyed have been Silouettes and Melissa Villaseno ... and another one that used lights (can't think of the name). I get bored with the singers, the magicians this year haven't been that great and most of the variety acts have been boring or just stupid (Professor Splash anyone?).
Last year was much better, esp. with Jackie Evancho and Defying Gravity. It seemed it was much more interesting than this year.

I liked last night for the most part.
I'm pretty sure Zuma Zuma watched last week's presentation that Traces did and decided to one up it the best they could. The guys will probably get hired by Cirque if they don't make it any further.

iLuminate had some cool stuff, but their lighting needs to be a bit bolder (brighter?) for TV.
