Doctor Who Season Six, 4/23/11

Since we're a little more than a month away from the new season, I figured I'd start a new thread.

To whet everyone's appetites, here's a mini-episode they just aired for Comic Relief:

<object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/51JtuEa_OPc?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/51JtuEa_OPc?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>

<object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/RkmiefoRcfU?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/RkmiefoRcfU?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>

And yes, starting this season the show will air on BBC America the same day as on the BBC (although with the time difference the Brits still get it first).

We also know this season will be split in two, with a hiatus in the middle.

I felt mixed about the scripts last season. Loved the New Doctor and Amy and Rory but the scripts needed some work.

Re: Doctor Who Season Six, 4/23/11

I'm really digging Matt Smithy as the Doctor so I'm looking forward to this season.

Also, BBCA is currently the previous seasons on Mon-Fri at 10AM and 5PM. It's a great way to revisit old episodes. But it reminds me why I miss Rose Tyler so much.

EDIT: After watching both clips, I'd love to be the meat in an Amy Pond sandwich.

Any chance we could discuss these one episode at a this time around, rather than one long monster thread?

So what's the delay between when these air on the BBC and when they'll air on BBC America?

That sounds good. I think there is enough interest and it will be easier without the delay.

Hours? BBC usually airs them around 6, 7pm, which is about 2 or 3pm EST. We'll get it the same day, just a few hours off. It'll be worth it if you're used to downloading it if you have BBCAmerica in HD.

Another vote for this. I usually don't watch these shows as they air and it's always risky reading the mega-thread, not knowing where the spoilers start.

I think that link is UK specific. Here is the one BBCA put up: http://videos.bbcamerica.com/video/2...n-6-Episode-1/

I'll second that though - don't watch in the dark!

Re: Doctor Who Season Six, 4/23/11

The title of Neil Gaiman's Doctor Who episode is pure geek bait.

Re: Doctor Who Season Six, 4/23/11

I actually got to ask Neil Gaiman for details about his episode. He told me, but I had to pinky swear not to reveal what he said. So, sorry losers!

I purposefully watched it in the dark. No reaction from me whatsoever.

I remember a similar story title for Season 4 - The Doctor's Daughter - and how everyone seemed to freak out ahead of time, and how the DW production staff basically said "the Doctor's life will never be the same again.

The week after that one, he was hanging out with Agatha Christie. My jaded fanboy self chooses to wait and see.
