Re: Best Buy Ad May 29 - June 04 2011

A little better this week but I'm still not seeing anything I need or don't have already. I promised myself I wouldn't buy Blu-rays of DVDs I already own regardless of price.

Does anyone know what Best Buy plans to do with all these "traded in DVDs"? I wouldn't be surprised if they re-seal them and sell for top dollar, like FYE's been doing for years.

Thought I was the only person that made that price.

No, it's the BD. There is a list of all the Best Buy exclusives in the HD forum.

Best Buy is just recycling the traded in DVDs. Expect some great in store Blu Ray deals this Sunday too. A friend of mine who works there said a bunch of Blu Rays came in labeled "treasure bin 5/28". Which is usually the $4.99 and up bin. Good luck!

Found the following on blu-ray.com, posted by (I assume) a BB employee. These are apparent sale titles not listed in their ad. Perhaps these are some of the "treasure bin" titles, but take with a grain of salt until confirmed:

2012
American History X
Angels & Demons
Armored
Black Hawk Down
Blazing Saddles
Boondock Saints II
Casino Royale
Cloverfield
Departed
District 9
Donnie Darko
Fight Club
Forrest Gump
Hatchet 2
Kill Bill:Vol 1
Kill Bill:Vol 2
Legend
Legion
Matrix
Natural Born Killers
No Country For Old Men
Ong Bak 2
Patriot
Perfect Storm
Pursuit Of Happyness
Repo Men
Shawshank Redemption
She's Out Of My League
South Park :Bigger Longer Uncut
Step Brothers
Stone
Takings Of Pelham 1-2-3
There Will Be Blood
Thing
Tommy Boy
Unforgiven
Varsity Blues
War Of The Worlds (2005)
Waterworld

EDIT: Just noticed Legend in there. That's a new release so I doubt that's one of them.

DOUBLE EDIT: All these titles are now listed as "Blu Ray on a Budget" on the BB web site; prices are given as $9.99-$14.99. So I guess these are not treasure bin titles. Also, I didn't realize that the original Taking of Pelham 1-2-3 is coming out as a BB exclusive this week. I assumed the reference was to the remake (although that's apparently available at the same price).

They appear to be focusing on Blu-Ray and I don't do Blu-Ray, so nothing there for me, although I'll check out the store anyway. -kd5-

Looks like my Best Buy is withholding the $4 X-Men DVDs with the movie cash. One employee said he knew he saw some in the back, but when I pressed them to go get two of any title (I only wanted the movie cash), no one could find a copy with the sticker on the front.

Same here, the movie cash was only on the blurays.

Went to the Best Buy in Niles, Oh., and I didn't see ANY shelf sale stickers on ANY DVDs, the blu-ray aisle was full of them but not one DVD. Don't know if it was just the Niles store (always lame) or not but that was pretty disheartening. -kd5-

My best buy store shrunk their DVD/Blu-ray section down big time! They now only have 1 row of both DVDs & Blu-ray Discs mixed together, in no order. That said I'm done shopping there.

Wonder if anybody will be buying the X-Men dvds if they have the ticket and just trade them back in for $5 off some of the Blu's in the trade in deal.

Even if they don't have the ticket, it still works out to an extra $1 off the Blu-Rays.

Re: Best Buy Ad May 29 - June 04 2011

I asked an employee at Best Buy about the X-Men DVDs not having the movie cash stickers, and after consulting with the manager they decided to peel one of the movie cash stickers off of a Blu version and stick it on my DVD. A rare instance of Best Buy going (relatively) above and beyond.

Went to the Best Buy in Boardman (my usual BB), they had all the shelf sale stickers out for the DVDs but there still weren't any on sale that interested me. I might've considered Donnie Darko: Director's Cut if they'd done a better deal than $9.99 (reg. $14.99) for it. -kd5-
