On my pioneer Dv-333 on layer changes it seems to pixilate specifically Robocop and Armgeddon. Also, on scilence of the lambs it takes longer than usual to switch layers. Is this because criterion discs aren't as compatable as others or does my dvd player need a firmware upgrade or even repaired? I contacted criterion about this problem with armgeddon and never recieved a reply. It's kind of ridiculous, I'm paying at least $5-10 more for criterion dvds than I pay for any other company and get these results. Thanks for anyone that can help me out.

Seems unlikely it's Criterion's fault. Never had a problem w/any Criterion disk (I've got 10 including RoboCop) on my Pioneer. I haven't read of other reported problems of layer-change-induced pixilation either.
Layer changes, however, can be slow.
Make sure the disks are SPOTLESS (even a little bit of lint/marking in the wrong place can make a consistent error). My AVIA disk wouldn't play one specific audio test (out of 30 or so) until I cleaned off a micro mark.
Get a lens cleaner. Everyone should have one.
Still problems, call Pioneer for warrantied service.
If I see someone else post a similar problem, I'll let you know. The 333 is a pretty popular player.

I had the same problem with robocop cc on my toshiba 3109. So, at first I thought it was the disk, but then I started to get pixilization/lockup with several disks, including Erin Brockovitch, T2 UE, and several bonds. Since these disks weren't the ones that were associated with firmware problems, I sent my , under warranty, 3109 back to tosh for a replacement.
On the new player, everything, including robocop, works fine. I have SotL CC, but I haven't watched it yet.
Try some other disks, it may be your player.
