Surprised to not find a thread on this already. It's getting good buzz and the trailer looks fun.

I was also surprised to see that this is sitting on the Zune marketplace as a Pre-Theatrical Relelease (like they did with Hobo With a Shotgun)
I may give it a whirl.

I think it looks awesome. A few friends of mine have seen it and they all raved. Since Magnet picked this up, it should be hitting VOD sometime shortly. It's playing at the NuArt here in L.A. on 6/24, so I might have to go see it.

I went to a sneak preview of the movie, and it is pretty fun. There was a Q&A after with the director, and he mentioned Jurassic Park as a big influence, and that he is already in works to have it re-made in the U.S.

Unless, of course, he's the one doing it. Not that those usually turn out any better (Funny Games, Vanishing), but it's better than some hack.

Good movie. It's basically Cloverfield with trolls. Although, it doesn't take itself as seriously and has quite a bit of humor, which I wasn't expecting. I gave it a 3.5/5
I'd recommend not watching that trailer. I think it would be a much better experience not seeing the trolls beforehand.

Thought it looked pretty cool. It was obviously done for budget reasons, but it looks like the vast majority of the troll footage will be at night so chances are we'll barely be able to see anything, so that sucks.
Cloverfield was like that too, but seeing nice big closeups of the monster wasn't really necessary for that movie as it's only seen in small snippets, which worked really well in my opinion.
It looks like we get to see a lot of troll footage but unfortunately it all looks dark, grainy and out of focus.
In any event, it looks interesting and I'll try to remember to catch it.

It depends. Certain movies work great. I already mentioned Cloverfield but another is Jaws. I would bet a large sum of money that had the shark worked like everybody wanted it to, Jaws would have been quickly forgotten and Stevie's career would have been a lot different.
I'm sorry...drawing a blank...I'm sure there are movies that fit the point I'm trying to make but i just can't think of any.
I guess my point is that when you're SUPPOSED to see what's going on and for whatever reason the I image is dark and hard to make out then that really bothers me. But I agree that in many examples that technique works very well I believe the movie is a mockumentary so it very well may have been filmed that way entirely on purpose. We'll just have to see how it comes across. Looks pretty cool.

Oh wow, I didn't know this was coming out here. I've had an international copy for 5-6 months now. It's a good flick considering the budget. Any fan of the "this tape is real and was found..." type movies should check it out.

It's hitting a semi-local indie theater on July 8th. I'm definitely going to check it out. It looks like a good time.

Re: Trollhunter-2011 (Dir-Ovredal)
He was the one that was talking about working on it. As director, I'm not sure, but when the audience was asking about possible sequels/prequels, he seemed more excited about the remake than any possible sequels.
