The Lost Bladesman (Mak/Chong, 2011) — Martial arts film by "Infernal Affairs" duo
Wiki | IMDB
The Lost Bladesman is a 2011 Hong Kong historical martial arts film adapted from the story of Guan Yu crossing five passes and slaying six generals in Luo Guanzhong's historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It stars Donnie Yen (Iron Monkey, Ip Man) as Guan, who also served as the film's action director. Written and directed by Alan Mak and Felix Chong (Infernal Affairs trilogy, what The Departed was based on).

Saw this over the weekend (picked it over Thor in "3"D). I have to admit I have almost no knowledge of the whole Romance of the Three Kingdoms period, so basics that schoolchildren would know were lost on me. Still, the action set pieces are well done, and the story moves along pretty quickly. Would absolutely not mind seeing more films from this series.

you had me at Donnie Yen. Love his work.
also...I'm somewhat disturbed by that stunt w/ the horse (as I am w/ any modern day filmmaking that uses it). I"m just not cool w/ those stunts using an actual horse, at least...it looks like an actual horse. What's up w/ Asia and there disregard for animal rights or whatever in the movie industry?

I'm stoked.
Thanks for the head up Bus.
They can kill the horses as long as it's a good Wuxia film.
