Midnight in Paris, Woody Allen's Newest Movie.

Didn't know Allen was up to something, guess he was. Not a fan of Wilson, dunno what kind of vibe I'm getting for it. Kind of want to see it.

Not up to something??? He hasn't missed a year since my birth in 1981!

His work is so amazing to me because of this fact. Who else releases a film a year that, on the whole, are always good.

Always looking forward to his next film.

I meant as in news wise. You'd think one of us would have made a tread about the production for this flick.

A movie that Owen Wilson actually looks tolerable in?! Only Woody could pull that off.

Intriguing that three of the biggest stars aren't even featured in the trailer.

This could be great. I have to catch up on the a few of the more recent Allen films. The last one I saw was Vicky Christina Barcelona.

This looks great. Woody Allen has been and will always remain one of my favorite film-makers. I only wish I could see this in France when it premieres at Cannes.

Really? I could have sworn Whatever Works came out before VCB. I did see that one. It was Cassandra's Dream and Tall Dark Stranger that I missed.

I'll watch it. Still a sucker for his movies. Except Annie Hall damnit. Raping my childhood by beating Star Wars and before George Lucas could re-rape my childhood.

Re: Midnight in Paris, Woody Allen's Newest Movie.

certainly was worth seeing.

If you seen 'Anything Else' then you can see any Allen film.

Cassandra's Dream isn't his best but I feel it is above average as far as his films go.

I like his early, funny movies.

Re: Midnight in Paris, Woody Allen's Newest Movie.

as opposed to his later funny movies?

His new stuff is great too, it's not just his old films. Sure my favorite of his is 'Manhattan' which is one of his older films but to dismiss his newer films would be a terrible mistake.

'Match Point' was Terrific. 'Vicky CB' was quite good. I really liked 'Whatever Works'. Basically every film he has did over the past 15 years has been good. I personally didn't care much for 'Anything Else' but it wasn't totally without merit.

Anything Else wasn't bad. Woody's character was awesome. It's certainly a cut above stuff like Curse of the Jade Scorpion.

I'm really out of the Allen loop. His last movie I watched was "Alice" (1990).

I had the misfortune of seeing Small Time Crooks as my first Allen movie. What a complete waste of time.

On the other hand, VcB and Match Point are phenomenal. I liked Whatever Works too.

I think foofighters7 was referencing a line from Stardust Memories. If not, it was an amazing coincidence.

The film is at RT w/ a 91%. Damn. Looks like I'm going to watch a film that has Owen Wilson that isn't tied to Wes Anderson. That's a first.

I will be going to see this in the theater in about 3 weeks as soon as it's more widely released. I'm very pleased to see that this movie is garnering Woody with some great reviews and praise.

Re: Midnight in Paris, Woody Allen's Newest Movie.

I just got out of a screening of this at the Laemmle Santa Monica 4, and really loved it. It was a great comedy that was in the unmistakable Woody Allen voice. It wasn't too long, and the quirky plot was grounded to reality really well. A lot of strong performances throughout, especially by Owen Wilson, who clearly is having a good time with the movie he is working on. At the end, I was very satisfied, and I now know what it would be like if Woody Allen made
Spoiler:
Back to the Future
. Oh, and as usual Michael Sheen is fantastic.

Off topic, after the movie, I met Matt Greoning, who was in the same screening. Maybe the nicest guy I've ever met, had a whole conversation with me when I was just prepared to shake his hand and leave him be.

Re: Midnight in Paris, Woody Allen's Newest Movie.

I adored this film. Best movie Allen's done since Match Point, and maybe even better than that. Owen Wilson is tremendous, clearly a stand-in for Allen but not doing a straight up impression like Branagh did in Celebrity. The movie is fun, surprising, touching, and everything a Woody Allen film should be.

And Adrien Brody was perfect.
