Do most people beat GTA games?

I own GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, GTA 4, The Ballad of Gay Toney, and The Lost and the Damned, and I love them all, however, I have never beat any of them. Why? Because they get too hard for me. The timed missions and the racing really do me in most of the time. I usually give up after awhile because it's not worth the physical pain.

The other day I was trucking along in GTA 4, and I was like man I'm finally gonna beat a GTA game "this is great!". Then a racing mission came up and I was like "my experience of GTA 4 has reached it's conclusion". I said that out loud while playing.

I beat III and Vice City. San Andreas was a big time disappointment in my opinion. I thought IV was a bit better but I never wound up finishing it. Still might at some point but I don't really care if I don't.

Re: Do most people beat GTA games?

That's impressive that you managed to beat the impossible Vice City. That IMO was the most difficult one and also the one where I got the least far into.

San Andreas was my favorite one by far, but it also got very hard later in the game, and I couldn't beat it either.

They need to make a new GTA game for people who are bad at video games. And take out the racing please thanks.

All I did in Vice City was cruise in the cars (even obeyed traffic laws ) while listening to the radio. Never bothered to do anything else.

Re: Do most people beat GTA games?

How do you define finished with these games? I've finished the story mode in III, Vice City, and San Andreas, but I've never 100% completed any of these games.

Heck, I can't think of many "big" games like GTA where I've fully completed every mission and task (Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 excluded).

Beat all of the ones I have played: GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas and GTA IV

I didn't think any of them were too hard. They give you nearly unlimited chances to play.

Re: Do most people beat GTA games?

I've played all of the PS2, PSP, and 360 ones but the only one's I've actually finished is GTA3 & GTA4. I think I just lose interest over time since the games are so long. But I actually think that's a good thing, since there is so much you can do in these games.

Re: Do most people beat GTA games?

I've beaten the story missions for GTA3 and Vice City but only 100% completed San Andreas; it can be a pain to do the racing missions but if you want to beat the story missions, you should try to do the Sidejob Missions first, like the taxi, cop, firefighter, and paramedic missions so you can have the max health, armor, fireproofing, and other goodies.

I beat 1, 3, Vice City, San Andreas, IV, and I forgot to click the "forgot to list" button for the GTA London game.

Did play GTA 2 but not enough to beat it.

Re: Do most people beat GTA games?

I've beaten III, Vice City, San Andreas, IV, Lost & Damned, and Gay Tony. Chinatown Wars on the DS is the only one I've played that I didn't finish.

My list is pretty much the same as yours. I just made a couple changes.

Re: Do most people beat GTA games?

I've owned and played all of them but have not beaten a single one which is sad. They really are just too damn big and take too long. I love playing them but I have to make myself stay focused and not just wander off to a water tower to start trying to create mayhem.

I love the games but I only have so much time to play and these take a ton of time. I always laugh when people start bitching about a 10 to 12 hour game because that is right up my alley.

I am currently trying to finish GTA IV but man there is a ton of missions and stuff to do, and the way it makes you restart missions if you fail them doesn't help on time either. Last night I was playing and decided to do these easy stolen car missions that get texted to you just for something different from all the shoot-outs I have been doing. Well, after three of them, I thought there couldn't be more than 10 total. Wrong. I was glancing at the achievements and it lists that there are 30! Fucking 30 cars just to go pick-up and drive to a garage.

I finally started using taxis all the time which helps cut playing time infinitely but it's still a crazy long game. I am just glad it is one of those games where I don't get too frustrated and there are usually many different ways to beat a mission.

I gave up San Andreas when the flying lessons started. I gave up Vice City because of the drowning issue. I gave up Chinatown Wars on the DS because I hated that certain missions you had to hold the DS, accelerate and steer the car, and work the stylus all at the same time. I actually had to have my wife hold the damn thing on one mission. When a game is so complicated that you need three hands to finish a mission, something is wrong. I recently got CW for the PSP and I am hoping it's controls fair better since you don't have to worry with a stylus. But then again, I will likely never finish it either.

Re: Do most people beat GTA games?

Fuck timed missions and racing missions in these types of games... That is the #1 reason I haven't finished any of them.

Re: Do most people beat GTA games?

I only really ever played GTA3 heavy, but there was certainly a "brick wall" mission in that game that I could not get past. It was cool, I just messed around for the rest of the time and still had a great time.

Re: Do most people beat GTA games?

Wait so is it complete everything 100% that's counted as beating a game? Side Missions, Hidden Packages, Vigilante Missions etc? Because I've finished all the story missions of all the next gen GTA's. GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, GTAIV+DLC but have never come anywhere close to getting 100% completion on any of them. Red Dead Redemption was the only Rockstar game I've been patient enough to get the 100% in.
