It was great how they were just stalling for time until something came up so they didn't have to study.
Jeff: "You could not where an Uncle Sam outfit. Or admit you don't have a sister!"
Jeff: "I wonder if that's the same sister that Tweets me to ask if I think her brother is cute?"
---
Secret Service: "Although I could issue a warning for this bootleg of The Last Airbender."
Abed: "Where were you last weekend?"
I loved how after Britta got no applause, the Dean said it's nice to know there's a floor on the process, lol.
Troy "Butt Soup" Barnes: "That guy's just a mess, it's like God spilled a person."
---
Jeff: "These people don't want me to say what I'll do, they want me to do what I'll say."
Nice to see Magnitude "Pop Pop" in another episode. "Same answer!" "I think you know Dean!"
Pierce: "My platform will be one high enough to push Vicky off and to her death."
Pierce: "If Vicky's out, then I'm out too. I was only in this to get back at her for stealing my pencil."
Jeff: "You could not where an Uncle Sam outfit. Or admit you don't have a sister!"

What an awesome episode. Everything was perfect, except for the Abed romance storyline, which sort of fell flat for me. Really missed Chang though...

Joel McHale tweeted that this episode had what might be his career-ender. He didn't lie
Troy was killing me this episode. And Assertive Annie is double-hot.

Yeah, that was definitely some of the funniest stuff Pierce has said on the show. And it came out of nowhere too.
Because he is hilarious.
(I'll put a .gif from this episode of Magnitude whenever Community Things. puts one up)

I felt like Starburns would be the kind of president befitting of Greendale.
The GCTV ticker had something about the dean planning a Western themed end-of-year picnic. Maybe an opportunity for a send-up of Westerns?

Community is my favourite show on TV right now. This is very nitpicky, but:
Jeff's audition for Real World in 1997 would have been out of date even then. George Michael? His hair, even, in the non-George Michael stuff, was mid to late 80's hair. Is that the point? He was a decade out of date?
Plus, on top of that, he said he was "like 19" when he taped that. His driver's license from a few episodes ago said he was born in 1971. That would have made him 26.
Again, is he supposed to be lying about his age?

Joel was born in 1971. But I don't see Jeff as 40. The 1997 thing is odd, especially since he was probably already in the Law field or on his way by the time he was "26".

I think Dan Harmon said the age on the license was a mistake.
Edit: http://twitter.com/danharmon/status/35942643901009921
"I was like 19 (in 1997)" would make him 33.
Oddly enough Faith by George Michael had a bit of a resurgence in the late 90s due to the Limp Bizkit cover (1997-ish).

For some reason I thought they had aged Annie up more. but she's still 19. Which makes the budding relationship between her and Jeff creepy, yet awesome at the same time.

It's amazing to me how subjective comedy is. Even if you have a group of people who all love the same show (like Community), odds are that they all like different things about it and respond to different jokes.
That said, I thought this episode was "ok." It did feel more like a season 1 episode, but despite the potentially fun premise, I thought it was average at best. The opening bit with them around the table was great, but after that...eh. Here's my main complaints:
1. I love Jeff and Annie together, but there's been so many episodes this season featuring their relationship that it felt like I'd seen it all before. There was nothing new.
2. The show spent the better part of a month developing Pierce's story and showing the effect the pills had on him, but here we were 1 week post rehab and he's back to being an aggressive jerk. He was always a jerk, but before it was mainly due to ignorance and prejudice, rather than outright meaness.
3. I feel like they've already killed Magnitude! For days after the Valentine's episode I walked around yelling "pop, pop!" to anyone who would listen and imo in the span of 2 scenes they succeeded in overplaying the joke. Did anyone really think the debate between Magnitude and Leonard was funny?
4. The political satire was all pretty tired. It wasn't anything we haven't heard a million times.
Many of you probably will read this and be thinking "lighten up dude, it's just a sitcom," and you're right. I actually love this show more than any other on tv right now and this episode was reasonably entertaining. I just kind of freaked out when I read the thread this week and everyone was gushing over what I thought was a average episode at best.
p.s. Because I haven't posted in a while I missed out on the discussion on whether or not season 2 has been a step down from season 1. For the record, anyone who thinks season 2 has been worse is out of their freaking mind.
