Saturday Night Live Backstage Special 2011

I thought some of the regular SNL posters would post a thread.

Anyone watch the 2 hour special? It seems NBC has put out these specials twice a year now.

Interesting ride through the history of the SNL but not sure if they just rehashed stuff and footage from the other specials.

Kind of Lame they opened the show with old footage of Jay Leno.

Norm Macdonald the last dangerous cast member?

Miss the early 90's all star cast and even feel nostalgic for 2008.

Most interesting part of this was the broadcast version of the Sinead O'Connor clip. I probably have not seen that moment since 1992 when it was aired, and they always showed the rehearsal version in place of it when she used a different picture instead of the Pope's.

I didn't know the Canteen Boy sketch had so many complaints from viewers.

I was glad to see that footage as well as them covering the Norm firing. I've only heard his side of it until now. It'd be great to see him back on the show as host some day. He'd have to be in a blockbuster movie probably.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for "Dirty Work 2"

Well, so much for Norm ever hosting then...

They showed it but didn't even mention Buck Henry nearly having a extremely
serious cut on his head when Belushi hit him with that sword, and Henry didn't even stop
the sketch and continued to jump out the window.

Re: Saturday Night Live Backstage Special 2011

This special was a huge waste of 2 hours, 98% rehashed material and outtakes from the previous well done specials.

The originally planned 35th Anniversary show would/should have been much better.

I enjoyed it. Although if I lived in NYC I might find a better use of time than 2 hours in front of a TV.

The best part was when they had U2 "I Will Follow" playing and footage of some of the cast members original auditions.

Maybe Buck was trying to jump out of the sketch to find a hospital.
