Record for most takes of a single scene in tv show?

Pretty much what the OP says. What is the record for most takes of a single scene in a tv show? Any explaination behind the number of takes is cool as well.

269

In the sixth season episode of Friends titled "The One Where Ross Dates a Student" there is a scene where Chandler enters Joey's apartment.

Chandler says, "Hey" and Joey responds, "Hey".

Chandler says, "So" and Joey replies, "So".

Episode director Gary Halvorson was dissatisfied with Matt LeBlanc's line readings and shot the scene over and over again.

After enduring 73 takes, the studio audience became hostile and began booing and jeering Matthew Perry and LeBlanc.

The audience was released, and Halvorson shot 154 more takes of the scene. Then Perry collapsed from exhaustion --having entered, exited and re-entered the apartment 227 times.

Halvorson decided to shoot Joey's replies in a reaction shot and did 41 takes of LeBlanc alone.

On a break, Halvorson spotted LeBlanc at the craft services table eating Tootsie Rolls, and inspiration struck.

For Take 269, LeBlanc was filmed simply sitting at his mark chewing candy. Later on, David Schwimmer --who had been secretly entertaining the crew for years with his dead-on impression of LeBlanc, dubbed in the words "Hey" and "So".

If this story reminds anyone of a similar situation on an episode of 30 Rock that is no coincidence.

The Friends producers tried to keep the incident hushed up to save Matt LeBlanc from embarrassment, but the story became well-known among comedy professionals.

Tina Fey used it on her show as payback at LeBlanc who rebuffed Fey's (drunken) advances at a party celebrating NBC's 75th anniversary in 2002.
