Sounds like a plot that would have been done on Better Off Ted.

I like me some Andrea Anders, but this show is awful.

I liked the Pilot alright, but this episode was pretty bad. This show just gives off the vibe that it's trying to emulate Better Off Ted, and it's doing a very poor imitation.

That's kinda the vibe I'm getting, too.

I wasn't crazy about last week, but it was decent enough to give another shot.

(That lasted all of 8 minutes tonight. I'm probably not going to give it another shot.)

Totally but I'm still in. They toned down the characters for this episode which was good, but there weren't a whole lot of laughs. I did love the pop star setlist on the wall at the end. I totally bought into Perry's character being so good at his job that he learns about all the talent that comes through.

Yeah, I'm going to stick with it another episode at least. For this one, they toned down the characters (a plus), but lost a lot of the laughs (a negative), whereas in the Pilot they had lots of laughs (a plus), but the characters were too over-the-top (a negative). Maybe by episode three or four they'll find a nice medium.

I entirely agree that the show has a distinct Better Off Ted vibe. Hopefully Mr. Sunshine can follow that show's trajectory and improve significantly during its run (which, let's face it, probably won't be much longer than Ted's.)

I find Allison Janney and her quirky, neurotic character the most grating of the bunch. Agree the Sunshine Center ain't no Veridian Dynamics, but I like Matthew Perry enough to stick with this show (until ABC brings back Penny Can.)

The small highlight for me in this episode was Kathy Najimy's reaction to Roman getting the cart: "Are you kidding? Chastity Bono wins it?"

It definitely seems like it has all the right ingredients to be a great show, it just needs some time to find its footing.

Ratings:

The news was not nearly as good for another midseason newbie. In its second week, ABC’s Mr. Sunshine plunged 33 percent in audience (to barely 7 million viewers) and 30 percent in the demo (with a 2.6).

Yikes, if all episodes were already filmed, we may get a summer "burn off" session for a batch of them.

It has a 2.6 in demo, it's safe unless it tumbles again next week.

Yeah, I thought this episode was amusing, but there weren't too many laughs. Perry is trying his best, but the writing just isn't strong.

Sort of a week follow up to the pilot, but I'll stick with it.

Re: Mr. Sunshine -- "Employee of the Month" -- 2/16/11

I caught this episode today during some down time at work. I thought it was terrible. The only good thing about it was Andrea Anders walking around in that loose white top and those hot black shorts. Other than that, no laughs from me and my co-worker.

I know a few of you are comparing this to Better Off Ted, but if I recall correctly alot of posters here hated Better Off Ted when it 1st premiered. And it became a cult favorite in this forum mid-way through it's 1st season. I think Mr. Sunshine needs some time to get the kinks out. Since this is sandwiched in ABC's comedy lineup, I'll willing to give it some time.

I agree it has alot of potential and a solid cast. I think some people are frustrated with it since it isn't as slapstick as Modern Family or alot of NBC's comedies. Being that this is only episode 2, I think the writers including Perry need some time to get comfortable with these characters.

I got a chuckle everytime Perry said that Sunshine Center's seating attendance of 17505. I said in the Pilot thread that this show is shot at the Forum in Inglewood, CA where they Lakers used to play and everyone in So. Cal knows the Forum seats 17505.
