I absolutely loved this episode. I've been very unimpressed with 30 Rock lately, but this was the funniest episode in years. I wonder if it had something to do with very little Jenna and just enough Jack. It even made up for Community not being aired here tonight.

Surprised they did not announce De Niro's cameo in any of the promos.

DeNiro's cameo was brilliant, listing the potential disasters.

What *is* Lutz this ep?
My first guess is trying to look the part in a "Jersey Shore' kind of way?

I wasn't sure, but now that you mention that, maybe he was going for Jersey Shore, but ended up looking gay?
On an unrelated note, why does 30 Rock's picture look so drab compared to the other Thursday night comedies? It's like their contrast is turned way down. Especially compared to Outsourced which has bright colors out the ass.

He is gay.

Well that would explain it then.
Maybe he wanted to "look gay" (a stereotypical look to pander to the cameras)?

I assumed he just wanted a look to draw more attention to himself and make him more of a 'character' for the reality show

From Wikipedia:
In "Stone Mountain", it is implied that Lutz's sexual interests may include men; when Frank suggests that the male members of the writing staff attend "Gay Halloween" so that they can meet women, Lutz asks the group why they always shoot down his ideas involving gay men, later stating that his interest in going to the party is to hang out with gay guys, and in "Verna", it appears he's a fan of sexy fireman calendars. When describing the fictitious religion "Verdukianism", Lutz said that one of the customs is that a "man may have up to nine wives if two of them are male".
...
Several recent episodes suggest that Lutz is in fact a closeted homosexual, or at least bisexual, and has shown an attraction to the newest cast member on TGS, Danny Baker.

There have been plenty of suggestions of him being either gay or bi in the past. Even if this was the first episode you ever watched, you should have come to that conclusion. He was talking about Chris Evans' hot body and how he couldn't wait for his Men's Health cover. And not that it automatically suggests that he makes out with guys, but he does like to wear women's thongs (and bras).
Come on guys. Did you think Elton John was straight up until the day he came out?

This has always bugged me. It's like 30 Rock is filmed through a sheet of wax paper.
