Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Lights is threatened with criminal charges and must do the bidding of loan shark Hal Brennan (Bill Irwin) to make them go away while being circumspect with the suspicious Theresa, who has also heard rumors that he'll return to the ring. "Everyone's jittery these days," he tells her. Meanwhile, daughter Daniella puts two and two together about her father's pugilistic dementia, and daughter Katie has a dance recital coming up. But Brennan has other plans for Lights.

Episode 2 of 13

Very impressed with the Pilot last week. Looking forward to the rest of this season.

Another great episode. It was slower than last weeks but I love the build-up for future plots.

They managed to make another stellar ending too. I wonder who shot that guy?

It was the guy from the bakery that gave him the "cake." He was one of the ones that broke into Lights's car and is apparently the one that took the iPod.

I'd guess that the one cop (who seemed to be a go between for Leary and the businessman) is the one who shot the guy.

I didn't understand why he broke into the car to begin with. Was it for the package that he previously possessed and gave to Lights? But that doesn't make any sense to me either.

plausible deniability? I'm guessing he was forced to pay something he didn't want to pay.

The package had a ton of cash in it. I'm guessing the guy wrapped it up so he knew what was in it so he followed Lights and waited to break in and steal the money.

I already assumed he knew what was in it since he handed the package to Lights. My question is why give it to Lights in the first place in the bakery if you're only going to steal it back?

Because handing it over makes it look like you're complying with whatever the arrangement was. If he hadn't been caught breaking into the car, no one would have suspected him and he would've complied with whatever the arrangement was and had the money.

Loving the show so far. Totally mesmerized by Holt McCallany's performance.

Another great episode. It's almost like the show is a mix of Rocky and a Mob movie. I love the way it's shot and edited. It feels like an East Coast drama with characters from the East coast.

I got a good laugh at the scene with Lights as the spokesperson for the carpet company. So, Is the bimbo-ish Asian chick that Lights brother was banging at the beginning the wife of that Carpet company owner?

And I'm not sure if I missed something, but I saw in the end the cops said the assault charges from the Dentist were dropped. Did they ever explain how?

He delivered the "cake" to that guy hosting the birthday party for his son. He said the DA's son was a guest at the party and he would be sharing with him.

Or girlfriend.

And I'm sure that that's going to come back to haunt Lights' brother in some way.

Enjoying the show, but it's not doing so hot, ratings wise. Hope it doesn't go the way of Terriers...

Finally watched this last night...awesome! I really like where this show is going.

Also, my home town, Morristown, NJ, got a shout out, although the scenes were clearly shot in Caldwell.

Re: Lights Out -- "Cakewalk" -- 1/18/11

Just caught the first two episodes, and I think this show is off to a fantastic start. The whole cast is strong, but Holt McCallany is especially good. The interactions between Lights and his daughters are really well done. It's nice to see a character actor get a starring role and do a great job with it.

Sucks that the ratings are low, but with FX at least we'll get a full season.
