What Hitchock, Orson Welles and DePalma films are not on DVD?

For Hitchcock, No. 13, Always Tell Your Wife, and The Mountain Eagle are all lost films, so obviously they aren't available on DVD. The Silent Version of Blackmail, Elstree Calling, and Waltzes From Vienna are the only Hitchcock films, to my knowledge, that aren't available on DVD. While most of the films have gotten proper releases, there are some that are in the public domain and thus have gotten pretty lousy treatment.

Well's "Falstaff/Chimes at Midnight" is only available in Spain. I understand Criterion has been wanting to release it for years, but has not been able to negotiate the rights.

Falstaff/Chimes at Midnight will be released on DVD in the UK at the end of February. I've preordered it through Amazon UK, I know it's also available through Movie Mail and presumably other vendors too. Can't comment on quality wise till it comes out obviously but the technical shortcomings of the Spanish version (and the print I saw ages ago) suggest it won't be more than adequate until somebody like Criterion pours their resources into it.

Lionsgate has Welles' Macbeth from the Republic/Paramount library. Remastered edition released in R2 France by Wild Side Video.
Criterion might have Othello as part of the Caidin Film Trust library (where Stagecoach came from), but it's also owned by the Welles Estate.
As for Hitchcock... All StudioCanal titles are believed to be licensed to Lionsgate. Five films were already released in a box set in 2007. The iTV films (formerly Carlton/Granada) are licensed to either MGM (Fox) or Janus Films. All of the films below have had R2 releases from the original rights holders except for Easy Virtue.
The Pleasure Garden - iTV
Downhill - iTV
Easy Virtue - iTV (no "official" R2, either)
The Farmer's Wife - StudioCanal
Champagne - StudioCanal
Blackmail - StudioCanal
Juno and the Paycock - StudioCanal
Number Seventeen - StudioCanal
Waltzes from Vienna - iTV
The Man Who Knew Too Much '34 - iTV
Secret Agent - iTV
Jamaica Inn - Douris UK (Kino in R1)
Foreign Correspondent - Criterion/Janus (Warner R1 is OOP)
Secret Agent and The Man Who Knew Too Much were going to be part of a MGM Hitchcock set along with the four Selznicks, Sabotage, and Young & Innocent. The eventual Fox set included the last six films mentioned, but switched out Secret Agent and The Man Who Knew Too Much for The Lodger and Lifeboat. I think it's safe to say that Janus Films has Secret Agent, as well as the rest of the iTV titles. All have good to great R2 transfers in the UK and France.

I guess that's slightly off topic. For the answer, you'll have to ask Studio Canal. I thought they were getting distributed by Lionsgate in region 1 so look for them to do the re-issue.

It was released in a decent full-frame transfer in 2002, but is OOP now.

Regarding Welles, what's the latest on his unfinished Other Side of the Wind? I heard they were close to a finished film.

Are you sure you're not thinking of Number Seventeen? Number 13 was Hitchcock's first film, was never completed, and of the few scenes that were filmed they are believed to have been destroyed.

I've almost given up waiting for this and Ambersons, which Warner Bros. keeps delaying as well...
BTW, DePalma's Dressed to Kill has also gone OOP on MGM DVD...with some copies available on Amazon marketplace...but nothing else forthcoming?

Looks like they're talking about the Other Side of the Wind again.
