I typically watch a lot of films at the theaters, but I decided to sit out this weekend as well, just couldn't see dropping some coin for either of this week's releases. But I'll be back at the theaters next weekend.

I'm thrilled to see "Black Swan", "The Fighter" and "The King's Speach" doing so well.

I liked The Fighter quite a bit. Christian Bale is excellent.

I've never even heard of Season of the Witch until this posting the only commercials I've been seeing are for The Dilemna, Green Hornet and True Grit.

"Season of the Witch" isn't bad, if you go in not expecting anything and you see it in the proper perspective...

And for the record, I haven't seen a decent Nic Cage movie in years and Paltrow seems ****y.

Very cool to see True Grit take the #1 spot.
Was anybody surprised to see yet another Nic Cage shit fest bomb? How many of these movies does the guy have left in him?

It doesn't matter how bad Nic Cage's movies are, he brings in pretty good box office overseas.

It's funny that the narcissistic ego-tripping Paltrow, famous for her 'Americans are stupid' and numerous other self-impressed BS comments, tries to go 'Country Strong' to revive her failing career... and fails.

I don't think Bad Lieutenant was a bomb, the movie got a limited-release when it came out.

Cage actually quit a role in The Green Hornet to do Season of the Witch. So lets see how it turns out at the BO. (Even though I already saw GH and it wasn't very good)

Fortunately, unlike say...Sorcerer's Apprentice...it didn't cost an insanely high amount, so it couldn't have lost as much money. Plus it didn't suck ass like that movie.

Saw Monday's results and thought it was a little funny:
1. True Grit $1,110,164
2. Black Swan $811,617
3. Little Fockers $790,125
4. Season of the With $754,249
5. Tron Legacy $692,824
6. The Fighter $595,983
7. The King's Speech $545,492
8. Country Strong $486,371
9. The Tourist $297,449
10. Tangled $275,746
Funny seeing Black Swan jump over so many higher profile pics. Wonder if that means we'll see more oscar calibre arthouse ballerina horror flicks. I've already noticed a recent increase in ballet-related advertising.
BL was a bomb, it may have been a critical highlight for Cage's career, but the movie itself was met with mixed reactions from the film going public and simply couldn't pull much money. I didn't mind SA, it isn't something I'd watch again but it was at least mildly diverting - amazed it got the budget it had, but I guess Bruckheimer gets what Bruckheimer wants. Season of the Witch is something I'd watch on HBO at 2 am.

Yeah but...I don't see how it could've actually made money. The film didn't bomb at the box office since it never went wide. Instead, it bombed with distributors, and never really got a chance to go wide. But...I'd still call it a bomb (well maybe...depends on what they spent to release the movie, but it's chances of profit are relatively low).

Sorcerer's Apprentice: $215 million on a $150 million budget.
Kick-Ass: $96 million on a $30 million budget.
Bad Lieutenant: $11 million on a $25 million budget.
Knowing: $184 million on a $50 million budget.
Bangkok Dangerous: $42 million on a $45 million budget.
National Treasure 2: $457 million on a $130 million budget.
Next: $76 million on a $70 million budget.
Ghost Rider: $229 million on a $110 million budget.
Only two films that could be considered bombs (Bad Lieutenant and Bangkok Dangerous, two out of three of his films that were rated R) while Next barely broke even. Everything else could be considered a hit... so 5 hits out of 8 films ain't bad!

So glad TRON is hanging in there and making money still. Didnt think True Grit would pass $100... good for it. Great film I cant wait to get on Blu.
