FYI, if your going to DVR this, make sure you set them to "Record All" Tonight's premiere has an original air date of 9/11/10, which was when it premiered in the UK.

So I watched episode 1 tonight without having seen season 1 and 2....Was planning on watching season 2 last year, but I didn't have the time and DVR space so I skipped it.

So I was a little lost on alot of the backstory. I like the King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table storylines and thought this was an interesting update. I know that Merlin and Arthur appear to be friends and Merlin is getting used to his magical powers. I also assume that the King is Morganna's father.

Can someone explain what the deal is with Morganna? It appears that she is the villain for this season, but what led her down that path? I heard them mention that Merlin poisoned her and in the beginning it was obvious that she was faking being good. The blonde is supposed to be her sister and co-conspirator in taking down Camelot?

Is Gaius supposed to be a mentor to Merlin?

Other than, I like the production value of the show and for a European TV production, the special effects weren't too bad. The scene where Merlin was fighting with the giant scorpions was kind of cool. It had a nice cheese factor to it.

Gaius pretty much took Merlin in and is the royal physician. He has some experience with magic previous to Uther's banning of all magic in the realm. He is one of the few people that know Merlin is capable of magic. Morganna is the daughter of one of Uther's friends but i believe he is responsible for her father's death. Uther took her in as a ward after this happened but she only recently found out his actions had something to do with it. She also has recently become aware of her own magical potential and fears what Uther will do to her if he finds out. Uther's ban on all magical activities has resulted in many deaths and some of those hiding from him are plotting his demise. The blonde is one of those and she has recruited Morganna to help her.

Yes it aired Friday. I mentioned it earlier in this thread, you need to set your DVR to "Record All" The original air dates on these are from 2010, when they aired in the UK.
