Anyone own one of those fancy new DVD-Audio
players? Tecnics player costs "only" 800 bucks. I'm kinda tempted to buy one(no,I'm not a rich scumbag),but I have a feeling in,say, five years, the price would go down to
300 bucks.

The price will be below $400 in less than 18 months... Look towards Sony and the SACD for an example. The SCD1 (1st consume SACD player) was $5K when it debuted. Sony recently announced a combo player (SACD and Progressive DVD) for under $1500, less than one year after SACD came to the US market. If you can wait till Nov. of 2001 when OEMs will have second generation players on the market, better D/A converters, and much lower prices...

Good point...
As I recall:
SACD: <15 titles out
DVD-A: 0 (aside from a demo that comes with the player)
DVD-Audio had some problems with the current watermarking scheme that produced audible artifacts at 96Khz and 192Khz. Essentially it was back to the drawing board and don't expect a range of titles until the first of the year at the earliest.
