Do you still have the very first DVD that you bought/received?

I bought my first DVD, There's Something About Mary, in August of 1999 and it is still in my collection. How many of you still have the very first DVD that you bought/received?

I bought Armageddon, Jerry Maguire, and Mission: Impossible at Circuit City in 1999, about a year before I had a player, but I have since traded them in for updated editions.

My first DVD was Austin Powers...I think I've long gotten rid of it - although it might be in a box somewhere. That was before I even had a stand-alone player...I bought a computer with a DVD drive.

I've spent a few moments today trying to remember which DVD was my very first and I honestly can't remember.

Re: Do you still have the very first DVD that you bought/received?

Yes. My first was "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" I got free for test driving a Kia (yes, I drove the car just for the DVD and told 'em so). It is a FS version but it got me a $10 rebate on the 4 disk extended version a month later (the 2nd title I got) which I got for about $20 after the rebate! The only DVD player I had at the time was on my computer. I've never watched the FS copy but have loaned it several times to people who actually *chose* it over the WS extended version!?!

I still have every DVD I've ever bought or received (except for duplicates).

My first may have been First Contact. A Buy.com 2 for $10 promo iirc.

Re: Do you still have the very first DVD that you bought/received?

The Matrix - The first DVD I ever watched at a friend's house and made sure it was the first DVD I bought, and I did just that in November 1999. Of course, the next day I bought The Avengers, and that didn't last quite as long.

Re: Do you still have the very first DVD that you bought/received?

The first two I bought were Scream 3 and Dogma. Dogma was replaced with the Special Edition and Scream by the boxset.

Re: Do you still have the very first DVD that you bought/received?

I still have Gladiator and For Love of the Game. Bought them along with my Toshiba DVD player, that I still use, back in 2001. I had just graduated high school and purchased them with my first check from FedEx. I had stopped using the DVD player when I bought a Sony, but that has since stopped working, so I went back to the Toshiba. Like Trevor, I have every DVD I've ever purchased or received as a gift except for duplicates or lost ones that I have replaced.

Yes, Gladiator, and I'm sure I paid close to $30 for it.

Re: Do you still have the very first DVD that you bought/received?

I received "The Rock" as a gift in May 1998 from a friend who wanted to give me my first DVD. It's funny because I didn't actually get a DVD player until May 2003.

I got The Matrix at Wal-Mart for $14.99 in November 1999. I still have it (despite having it on Blu-ray).

You were a member here 7 years before you bought a DVD? What did we do to finally win you over?
