Disney's Shiny-ness
I love the shiny, cool looking slipcovers that Disney seems to be using more and more on their dvds and blu-rays, but there is a problem. Maybe other people here have it, too. The shiny stuff that they use to make the slipcovers, no matter how well you take care of it, starts to flake off after quite a short time. I have dvds sitting on the shelf that I've only watched once or twice and haven't handled in a long time, but the shiny cover stuff still comes off. I don't get it. Sure, the shiny stuff is cool, but they could get pretty much the same effect with just a slightly shiny card cover, like they have for Pete's Dragon. It's not really a big deal, I suppose, the case underneath is perfect.

I've never had that problem with my Disney slipcovers. Can you give us an example of which blu-ray slipcover you are talking about? I think Disney makes the best slipcovers out of all the movie studios.

Mainly the Santa Claus 3 and Peter Pan dvds. The shiny cover stuff is extremely rubbed off the edges of the spines. And to a lesser extent, the covers for the blu-rays of the first 2 REAL Toy Story movies.
