First Star Wars now Titanic being converted to 3D?
I'm sure this has been mentioned somewhere before but couldn't find anything on it. Just saw that Cameron intends to release Titanic in 3D for the 100th anniversary of the disaster ( the real Titanic, not the movie)
My respect for these guys has just dropped to an all time low. We know Lucas is going to be pimping SW out until he dies but do we really need a 3D titanic?
Really? How about taking some of this money and actually creating something new for a change instead of just sending your billion dollar baby back out onto the streets for one more trick?
Anybody else not care about seeing this?

I absolutely refuse to see any movie that has received a retroactive 3D treatment, and I ESPECIALLY refuse to ever pay money to see any previously-released Star Wars film in a theater.

I know people don't like post 3D movies but the two people that I can see doing post 3d right are Cameron & Lucas. Cameron has been involved with various Titanic projects for the past 15 years so I don't think he's letting a crap product out.

I really hope Lucas's 3D treatment of the Star Wars saga is a spectacular failure.
More over I hope everything George Lucas does in the rest of his career is a failure.

I won't see any old movie remastered in 3-D, as it is just another sign in Hollywood that they are out of original ideas.

Sometimes, it's just fun to see a beloved film in the theater again. The theater experience, especially if the film is "enhanced," can be a real blast.

Thank you for using quotation marks at least, and thanks for answering your own question about why I single out Lucas films. Revisiting an old favorite in a theater can be a treat, but not when the original product I loved has been tinkered with in a crass attempt to milk fans for all they're worth. And I don't recall ever mentioning Back to the Future.

I'd go see this if they combined the two films and put Murdoch on the Death Star.

You'll go see Back To The Future but have a problem with Star Wars and Titanic? And I don't mean YOU specifically - but why single out films not to be watched just because it's George Lucas or James Cameron?

Titanic in 3D is the Duke Nuke'em Forever of 3D conversions. Cameron's been talking about it since around 2003. That being said, Groucho's "motorboat" post should be the entire marketing campaign.

What I'm hoping for is that 3D still won't be widespread enough by the time the SW flicks start showing so Lucas will have to also release 2D prints to help cover the costs and I can see all six on the big screen again. Maybe by then my little one will be old enough to start watching these.

It would be just nice to hear these soundtracks in a theater environment again. I saw Titanic in a DTS THX theater and it probably was the best sounding audio presentation I ever heard. It felt like my chest burst open when the ship split in two.
