Normally I would be pretty dismissive of this (for starters, the title is awful) but Zwick does have some pretty solid films to his credit. I have a feeling it is not as whimsical a film as the trailer is suggesting.

Maggie (Hathaway) is an alluring free spirit who won't let anyone - or anything - tie her down. But she meets her match in Jamie (Gyllenhaal), whose relentless and nearly infallible charm serve him well with the ladies and in the cutthroat world of pharmaceutical sales. Maggie and Jamie's evolving relationship takes them both by surprise, as they find themselves under the influence of the ultimate drug: love. Based on Jamie Reidy's memoir "Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman."

It does look good, and according to a friend of mine that has seen it already, he has made clear that it is actually a good movie.
And because I'm not sure how much of a secret it is at this point,

The trailer makes this look absolutely awful. However, I am a pretty huge fan of Zwick, so I'll probably rent this when it comes out on Blu-ray.

I figured this would be the more dramatic version of NO STRING ATTACHED, but didn't realize till now who's directing. I'm sold thanks to Zwick alone!

Also, is it painfully obvious to anyone else that they couldn't afford to cast Jack Black, so they made a poor man's copy?

Zwick makes any remotely interesting movie heavy-handed and near-unwatachble. Plus a star-driven romantic comedy? Hathaway's a cute, very attractive girl but nowhere near hot enough to drag me into theaters to watch this.

Previews of this look fun and I'll give Zwick the benefit of the doubt. I may check it out opening weekend w/ the gf.

I liked Jake and Anne's chemistry in "Brokeback Mountain" so I'm actually very interested in this flick.

Dud. Netflix it for the nudity in a few months I guess.
Edit: Love the "other" emoticon caused by the RT URL

For story purposes, this film takes place earlier in the 2000s. Jamie (Jake Gyllenhall) is an up-and-coming pharmaceutical rep for Pfizer (after going through many other jobs due to either boredom or jacked up libido) who has a way with the ladies, and isn't afraid to tap anything that moves. He's been tasked with pushing Zanax and Zoloft onto doctors, who normally prescribe Prozac and other drugs of that ilk. While on rounds with a bribed doctor (Hank Azaria), Jamie, playing an intern takes part of a doctor's appointment where Maggie (Anne Hathaway) is the patient, and in need of medication for her condition. Jamie is quite taken by Maggie, violent flirting ensues, and they find themselves very compatible amorously, but Maggie doesn't want any semblance of a relationship due to her condition, and simply wants to live in the moment. While this is going on, Jamie strikes gold with some little blue pills, and his professional life is on the upswing.
Suffice it to say, the rest of the film deals with Jamie and Maggie's non-relationship relationship, and the ups-and-downs of it.
Overall, the film feels like it needed another re-write at times, the characters lacked a certain something that hampers the burgeoning love story happening between this unlikely pairing. But that being said, Gyllenhaal and Hathaway have nice chemistry, and overall ease with one another that comes through on the screen.
I give it 2.5 stars, or a grade of C+.
