This episode was a great reminder of my love/hate relationship with Smallville. To think an episode in the last season of this show was wasted on this makes me ill.

did Alexander say "bad man" or "bat man"
edit: looks like it was bad man, when Tess said it she enunciated a bit better

Though a definite throwaway, it was still enjoyable. However, it would have fallen appart if not for the Tess/Alexander scenes and the payoff at the end where we saw further growth in Lois and Clark's relationship.
That said, am I the only one who expected Lois to exclaim "killing me won't bring back your damn honey"?

I must be the only one who liked the Lois and Clark scenes. I especially enjoyed their frank conversations about past incidents. It's also great to see their devotion for each other in spite of the situation.
I didn't really care for the Lex stuff. Maybe it's because they don't know what to do with Tess. I was really expecting Alexander to be up in the stair balcony area to overhear the conversation with the lead scientist.
I thought the twist of a different town being infected by different color meteor was a nice twist! A little extra sprinkle of season 1 in season 10! Plus it goes, potentially, to show how Smallville didn't turn out like that because of Clark. Who knows what would have happened to a Smallville over run by green meteor victims.

I was ready to hate this episode by the time the opening theme started, but it certainly picked up. The Lois and Clark stuff got better over the episode, and like an above poster noted, I also appreciated the references to previous events.
Also, I loved when Alexander was in the barn remembering his relationship with Clark. One of the best scenes from an early season that I often think back on was when Clark and Lex were looking out at the farm from the barn window talking about their friendship (if I remember correctly, the episode was about 2 traveling salesmen who were friends that later became enemies?), but when Clark asked Lex if he thought that there friendship could end up the same way, Lex replied that he was sure that their friendship would become the stuff of legend. It was pretty rewarding to me as a viewer to see the writers go back and reference that. That original exchange is one of my favorite scenes in the series.

So Clark mostly had (or had) his powers and lost it again when the flame hit? It seemed like his running wasn't regular super speed shot, but rather slow motion run in that everybody could see him run. However, it seemed like he was okay until the blue flame hit, at which point he lost his powers until the flame went out.

Another interesting thing I read here
Lois calls the village she and Clark find the "Village of the Damned". Christopher Reeve, star of the Superman films and portrayer of Dr. Virgil Swann on Smallville, starred in Village of the Damned

Echoing what 99% of you guys said, the Lex stuff was intense, the village stuff came across as quite lame, even if you factor in the parallels that Superman007 mentioned.

I enjoyed this episode despite it being mostly filler. The Village of the Damned A story was a little hokey, but I thought the B story with Tess and Lex was really interesting.
The one thing that I really did enjoy was near the end with more progress in Lois and Clark's relationship. Really liked the love scene with them. Welling and Durance as has been said many times have great chemistry and I thought it was a really well shot scene and good use of music.
