Modern Family -- "Halloween" -- 10/27/10

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Claire loves Halloween and is gearing up to spookify the Dunphy house for the trick or treaters. She gives each family member a role to play, but none of it goes quite right... Cameron can't shake a traumatic childhood experience and hates the holiday, Mitchell has had a terrible day at work, and Gloria is acting weird after Jay and Manny teased her about her accent.

I don't know if they'll be able to top last week but this synopsis sounds promising.

Yeah I can't see this topping last week which was one of the funniest sitcom episodes I think I've ever seen.

"You scared the Baby Jesus out of me."

Marshall on phone: "I'm in the men's room in nothing but a Spider Man costume"
Cam: "Hot! Who is this?"

Lots of good ones tonight.

Thank GOD Sarah Hyland is over 18 years old!!

The scenes with Mitchell in the spiderman suit, and when Phil got scared of the halloween prop had me dying!

Another fantastic episode that keeps delivering the "lol" moments!

I have to admit the main reason I decided to start watching this season is I saw a cast picture in a magazine and saw her...and I just had to watch it going forward.

Funny episode, it's good that they don't always have 3 separate plots but sometimes tie them together.
Gloria was great with her anglicized accent, although she couldn't really pull it off. Jay's speech at the end to calm her down was sweet too.

That's one of my biggest beefs with the show. Jay is always such a dick to her, it makes you wonder how he ever won her over in the first place. Of course he always comes around in the end and comes off sweet, but he seems a tad too cruel in my book. He should be softer on her and a pill with everyone else.

He's almost starting to come off like Tim Allen in Home Improvement. Do or say something stupid at the beginning of the episode to get in hot water, and redeem himself by the end of the 22 minutes. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

What was the quote that phil had at the beginning of the episode? Something about if we've learned anything from...

I can't remember anymore than that. Any help?

So awesome.

With everybody's individual storylines coming together like they did at the end this felt like an Arrested Development episode to me. (Much like the Minnie Driver episode from Season 1 did.) Awesome.

The whole episode got preempted on my station because there was a tornado warning in the middle of fucking nowhere (that just happened to be in the viewing area).

Re: Modern Family -- "Halloween" -- 10/27/10

Claire's meltdown at the end with her saying, "Thanksgiving, that used to be me. Roasting a turkey. Until the gays took it over with whatever new turkey-cooking-craze it is you saw on the Food Network," and Mitchell nodding toward Cam killed me.

Jay: "This whole thing is a colossal fog cue."

Luke saying "I'm your mother now!" to Manny was funny.

Cam: "I lived on a farm. They lived in the town. They were the townspeople."

Mitchell climbing down the the building as Spider-Man was awesome.

Gloria punching Mitchell caught me by surprise.

Although English is my second language I LOL'd at all the Gloria jokes.

Glad to see "Andy" here.

Am I the only one not attracted to Sarah Hyland?
