Really enjoying this show. They sure know how to make the last five minutes of each episode exciting.

Re: The Event -- "Loyalty" -- 10/25/10

to Ian Anthony Dale's performance in this episode.

Enjoyed the scenes with Simon/Mason and Violet in 1954 and the 10 years ago sequence.

that ending was amazing. They really know how to keep your attention. Kudos to the special effects people.

I don't think they ever clearly said where Leila's parents lived, but I thought it was funny that she and Sean literally arrived there super fast from their location in Texas.

And now we get Paula Malcomson in not just 2 shows, but 3 simulataneously (Caprica, Sons of Anarchy and now The Event) Kudos to her agent for keeping her busy.

Yeah, for some reason, I thought they lived in Colorado, so when they suddenly arrived at the house, I was shocked. I certainly didn't think they were that close to their house. Oh well, minor nitpick.

I'm still loving how they're moving this story along. I'm also still of the opinion that they're not aliens. The show seems to be way too forthcoming about them being aliens--and the only people who have called them such directly are those who aren't some of "them."

I time travel/other dimension still seems to be the strongest theory to me. Thought it was interesting though that someone called one of them an angel this episode and he said, "far from it," possibly alluding to something supernatural.

Re: The Event -- "Loyalty" -- 10/25/10

The warehouse sequence almost looked like one continuous shot as they were moving towards the exit, which I thought was cool. I gotta watch that part again.

Re: The Event -- "Loyalty" -- 10/25/10

I loved some parts and hated some parts.

I was thinking that Simon couldn't last longer as the mole before this episode. But then I saw the preview for next week. I hope they don't screw that.

I wasn't moved by his back story from the 50's, that has been done several times and you could see from a mile how it would end. I liked it better in Fringe, when they did that with the agent from the other world, that falls in love with his family from this world.

But good episode in general.

Terrible episode. Everything was contrived, stupid or both.
And yay for the '24' satellites and traffic cams with super facial recognition

I'm losing interest fast.

Re: The Event -- "Loyalty" -- 10/25/10

I was actually surprised they didn't use facial recognition - that's a tv law enforcement staple now. I seriously doubt cities record their CCTV cameras (besides stuff like red light and speeding cams that take pictures, which is essentially profit-motive anyhow) - you're talking some serious hardware to be able to do that.

Re: The Event -- "Loyalty" -- 10/25/10

But they did. That's how they found Sofia. Like all the cameras are connected and they can use them to follow someone around the city using facial recognition. I know it's just a TV show, but it's just lazy and it used to bug the hell out of me on '24'.

Also, I'm getting sick of every show using the same fucking actors.

Safe to expect the production values to drop in future episodes? Doubt we'll be seeing any heavy special effects given the trend with the ratings decline.

I don't know--DVR numbers add 2 million to their ratings each week. I have a feeling it's doing all right. I would expect production values to stay about the same.

LOL what's with the sudden hate toward this show in this thread? It's basically just like 24. If you liked 24, I'd think you'd like this and expect about the same contrivances. It's just fun for the ride, even if sometimes it does do something stupid.

Re: The Event -- "Loyalty" -- 10/25/10

The ratings are irrelevent to the shows budget for future episodes. If this show gets a 2nd season, then maybe the budget will change. The network and producers already created a budget for the show when it got greenlit to series. Plus, like most shows, they are at least 5-6 weeks ahead in the production schedule, so they are probably working on episode 11 or 12 right now.

^ That makes sense. I figured they may isolate budgets for the front 13 and back 9. Wasn't sure.

OK - I forgot that.

The funny thing is that they didn't see their own agent (with his SUV parked outside) walk into the building 2 minutes before the entire CIA did.

He did go through another door (crowbar on the lock), but the rest of the agents did pull up beside his SUV.

This isn't hate. Go look at the thread for the pilot. That's blind hate.

Seems like they are definitely future humans; Sofia speaking to the man in his own language?

Still really enjoying the show.
