Great deal especially if you have Amazon Prime. I knew nothing about this series until it popped up in my Amazon Gold Box this morning. This price is much lower than everything else at DVDPriceSearch at the moment (ie., it's $20 at DD before the current 20% discount).

Apparently there are other releases of the same material. For instance, this week BestBuy has this Veil collection for just $5.24. Appears to have the same 10 episodes contained in the Amazon collection, but I gather it may be lacking some of the special features.

Then there's this set in a 'collector's tin' at Amazon for $11.49 [update 11/2: now $8.99]. It boasts two episodes not included in the other sets, a pilot and a regular episode.

Worth a mention: if you're into these thriller series from the golden days of TV, the complete Suspense set is $25.99 as DeepDiscount's deal of the day today (including the ongoing 20% discount).

Does anyone know if this edition has better transfers then the budget versions (such as the one that has turned up at BL for $4?).

It's been ages since I've searched, so something may have come out to best it... but back in the day, this Image/Something Weird edition had much better PQ than other choices out there.

I've not seen any of the budget versions to be able to compare, but the one from Something Weird/Image Video is excellent. The video is pristine with good black to white ratios and nice clear audio. It's an excellent value for ~$7.50 (I got mine last year for $7), especially if you're a fan of Karloff as he appears in almost every episode (not just the intro/outro segments).

I should mention that my copy does not have the booklet w/episode information. I don't know if it was an error or if it's no longer included. I don't consider it much of a loss considering the price as I typically only read these once but this one supposedly has good info about the show.

It popped up in my Gold Box today as well. I guess because I ordered the Thriller set during it's DOTD.

I wasn't aware of this series, but thanks for the post OP! I decided I'm going to order it.

Is this better than the Platinum versions? Hamilton Books has both volumes for a buck a piece.

If the Platinum versions have poor quality, I would imagine so. Everyone on the Amazon customer reviews page for this edition seem to be raving about pristine PQ/AQ.

Thanks. I splurged and got the collector's tin for $11.49. I still have yet to open the Thriller series, hopefully tomorrow I'll have time to watch some episodes.

I'm almost certain that a boxed version of the Timeless "Tin" was the edition at Big Lots a few weeks ago for $4. If it has 2 extra episodes I'm kicking myself for not grabbing it!

I just did some checking to confirm my memory: S.W. is a small collector's label that does mostly burned dvdr's. The good news is they show this title as distributed by Image, so it should be factory pressed.

This set has been available for about a decade or so. It's a legit, factory pressed 2-DVD set.

I came across the 3-disc tin for $5.99 waiting on a 45 minute checkout line at Marshalls yesterday. (Almost made the wait worth it.) Only one on the shelf at the Gateway Center store in Brooklyn, NY.

Looking forward to giving it a spin.
