The commercials look really good for this.

This show keeps surprising me by the ending. Not sure what I think of all the storylines yet, but it is a fun ride. Can't wait to see if the ratings held up (I hope!).

Yup. She got OLD.

Also, the phone battery thing is so fucking stupid. Just artifical drama created through lazy writing.

Re: The Event -- "A Matter of Life and Death" -- 10/11/10

Wow! Jackie from Too Close for Comfort got really old.

Great episode, but yeah the phone battery was too coincidental with Leila's phone call.

I liked the reveal at the end with everything being purposely planted by Vicky and DB Sweeney for Leila. So the people behind this conspiracy want Sean for some reason and are using Leila as leverage. I wonder what Sean really has to offer other than his computer programming skills. I am glad they have kept the FBI agent on as his ally.

Hal Holbrook credited in this episode. Who did he play? I don't think I saw him unless he was the voice that Vicky spoke to on the phone at the end.

Since the Pilot went crazy with the flashbacks, I like how they have toned down on them. In this instance they gave some backstory on Sean/Leila's relationship and the President's relationship with Sophia and both worked for the context of this episode.

Taylor Cole and Sarah Roemer are both insanely hot, especially Taylor. I love the dark hair and eye shadow, which makes her so evil hot.

Re: The Event -- "A Matter of Life and Death" -- 10/11/10

They are doing MUCH better with the flashbacks. Sometimes I still wonder if they're needed, but they don't bother me too much. Had no idea that was Jackie from Too Close for Comfort! Anyone have a screencap?

I agree about the cell phone, though I knew that was coming when he took the picture of the kid and the warning message showed up. Pretty clear they were going to have the phone go dead at the most inopportune time. Again, that's a 24 device, and I'm ok with it so long as it's not overused. In some ways it's good because it allows them to keep it real by having his girlfriend call him, but it also allows them another episode or two before he has to act on that call.

Yeah, Taylor Cole has a Jordana Brewster thing going on. Very nice.

Really fun hour. This is not a show you keep talking during the week, or want the week to run faster so you can watch what's next, but when the time comes you know you'll get entertained. Yeah, a couple of rolleyes moments, but that's expected in this kind of shows.

Amazing. I would have never realized that w/o this thread.

I wonder whatever happened to the hot blonde with the huge rack in TCFC.

And yes, the phone bit was stupid.

Seems like this week, they are making the VP the more shady gov't guy compared to the CIA director.

Yeah - that doesn't make me feel old. Had a boyhood crush on her. Didn't realize she was in her late 20s/early 30s when she was on TCFC.

This is how I feel. I think the one main problem with this show is that the characters aren't very memorable. In 24, Jack and Chloe were strong characters off the bat, and in LOST several characters stood out pretty quickly.

They want him as in they want him dead. One of the baddies even said it in this ep -- he's too dangerous as he's obviously piecing things together.

Ratings were actually up: "The Event" (4.6, up 28%).

This bothered me too. A lot actually. It would have seemed much less contrived if they had had shown us the battery dying at some point other than right when she had tried to call. As it was it was a horrible step into cliche territory, which really stuck out since they have done pretty well in avoiding that otherwise.

The more remarkable thing is that he would still have his cell phone after:

1. Taken into custody by the bad guys at sea.
2. The airplane crash.
3. Being treated at the hospital.
4. Taken into FBI custody (in the car and at the FBI office).

They showed the phone battery life was at 10% when he took the photo of the kid, and then it went down to 4% when the girlfriend tried to call his cell phone.

Sarah is hot when Taylor Cole isn't in the scene. After that, not so much.

I didn't catch the 10%. Didn't the phone actually go dead before she tried to call? It's well into the night when she makes the call, but I thought it was day when it cut back to the scene with the dead phone. In any event, timing the cut the way they did just seemed hackneyed.

Re: The Event -- "A Matter of Life and Death" -- 10/11/10

I think when Sean saw the 4% battery life on his cell phone, he thought it was pointless to answer it, so he put the phone away, especially since he didn't recognize the phone number since his girlfriend was calling from the police station.
