Re: TOYSRUS Video Game Sale - Buy 2 Get 1 free - October 10 to 17

I think I'm going to get:
Red Dead Redemption
Heavy Rain

and then I'm having a hard time deciding among the following:
Castlevania
Dead Rising 2
Uncharted 2: Game of the Year Edition

or if they'll allow for inclusion of a game that's not out yet:
Fallout: New Vegas
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II
Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition

Also, it's hard to know which of these games might drop most in price on Black Friday, too.

Decisions, decisions...

RDR and Heavy Rain have had some sales recently where, IIRC, they dropped at or below the $40 price point that a B2G1F at $60 a piece would run you. I may be wrong, though.

I blame, of all retailers, Kmart for getting me to pick up games like Dead Rising 2 and Castlevania early, instead of waiting for this sale as I usually do. But to TRU's credit, I now always look for the magical $40 price point or equivalent after coupons, etc.

No, I think you're right. That's what I'm struggling with. Does anyone know if they will allow pre-orders?
I'd feel pretty good about throwing down for Fallout: NV, Little Big Planet 2, Dead Space 2 if they do.

I know the feeling. I have credit at Gamestop, gaming coupons and a gift card for K-Mart, and Amazon is no tax and cheaper prices.

That and TRU tends to totally suck for new releases not named Halo or GTA...

It's tough.

Pre-orders never usually work with this. You can probably buy filler for Fallout, but LBP2 comes out in January, and I'm not sure when Dead Space 2 does. I think their return window is 45 days or so.

Re: TOYSRUS Video Game Sale - Buy 2 Get 1 free - October 10 to 17

They do not traditionally allow preorders (the point of the sale is supposedly to clear out games before the Christmas onslaught). They have in the past allowed placeholders, where you could pick up a game you didn't really want, and as long as it didn't ring up as the "free" one you could return it for a different game that came out later (or one that was out of stock). However, they've been catching on to that, and a couple of years ago I was told point blank that I wasn't supposed to do that anymore. Someone in the deals thread said that all games will ring up at $40 now, which seems like an even better deal if you only want one or two.

Ah, okay, thanks for the info. I guess I'll see what they have in store and at what price.

Hard to select same priced games, as you'd ideally want the 3 games you're getting to be the same price. I've waited quite a whille to get most of these games at a good price point so this would be a great time to get these though. Most likely games to pick if I can find good matches:

NBA 2K11 - not decided on PS3 or Xbox 360. Can anyone share if this game works well with Playstation Move? Seems like there's not a review that includes a critic on the Move gameplay.
COD Modern Warfare 2
MLB 10 The Show
Fight Night Round 4
Wii Controller
Killzone 2

I think I'm going for
Halo Reach
Dead Rising 2
Rapstar ??

I'm still on the fence about Rapstar but as part of a sale, I might just go for it.

I don't think this will work on accessories. Also, while I haven't seen the Move used to control 2K11, I can't imagine using it with how complex the controls are in that game already.

As far as getting games you otherwise wouldn't... that was my main problem with the sale... not the sale itself, but my lack of self control in getting a "deal" and having to find a third game to pick up. Now I usually just get Xmas presents if I can't find a second or third.

enjoyed the demo a lot, so I'd say:

Enslaved
Dead Rising 2
......
maybe COD: MW2...

depending on what else they offer. Left for Dead 2? I'm behind on a few titles, but not many really grabbing my eye at the moment.

Enslaved and Castlevania are on my radar. I'll have to see if anything grabs me as a 3rd title -- otherwise, I expect to be able to pick up the two above for $15-$20 off within the next few months.

Re: TOYSRUS Video Game Sale - Buy 2 Get 1 free - October 10 to 17

After the initial buzz over 2K11 and Castlevania died, I'm only looking at Enslaved anymore... and I might as well just, guh, get it at KMart and then use the coupon on Fallout. Too bad, TRU. I always enjoy the sport of partaking in your shenanigans -- the fruitless game hunts, clueless clerks, shipments that just didn't arrive...

Decided to order MOH from Amazon because of the $20 credit. And I never played the first Dead Rising, so not sure about DR2. Enslaved is still in thanks to the good reviews here.

Oh but once again I changed my mind and I'm thinking about getting the Eyepet bundle for the Move.

Does Toys R Us have Heavy Rain? I've checked their website and it doesn't even show up in their inventory. I'm looking at getting that, Enslaved and then something else, not sure of what yet.

I didn't think points cards were usually included in this? Apparently they are now?

Typically they are considered gift cards so coupons and promos don't work on them. Do you have a reason to believe they work now? Might be worth looking into.

The website seems to indicate that they are eligible, but they are out of stock.

Re: TOYSRUS Video Game Sale - Buy 2 Get 1 free - October 10 to 17

Picked up Enslaved, NBA2k11, and Castlevania LoS for the 360. Mainly impulse buys as I was waffling on doing the B2G1F this year. May not keep any of them. Oh, for those looking to use this for PH's, mine show up on the receipt as Game 1 = 59.99, Game 2 = 59.99 and Game 3 = 0.00. Pretty sure that is how it worked in the past? You can usually return/swap Games 1 and 2 as long as they are not the zero priced ones?

Yep, that's where I saw it. Anybody try it in store? I'll run over tomorrow and see.
