After the way last week's ep ended, the first 5 minutes of this should be really interesting.

Fantastic episode. This show is really the best show people aren't watching. There's no way this will get a 2nd Season, but at least it looks like we'll get the whole 1st Season. I like that it's serialized with bits of stand-alone mixed in. I wonder if this is really the last we'll hear about the land development project.

Steph is hilarious. She's actually played by Donald Logue's real-life sister, so that's pretty cool. I like how Mark is so tough on Hank and Britt, but still gives them a lot of leeway. I loved Hank's stoner impersonation and his response, "Looking at me, you'd think so..." and how he just trailed off and sort of half shook his head, lol.

Looking forward to next week.

amazing that this is only the 5th episode. seems like a ton of stuff has happened in this season so far. shame this is likely to get canceled. it's a pretty smartly written show.

Yeah this is definitely the show that's done the most with its story and characters of all the new shows this season. Awesome!

Sucks that FX totally screwed the pooch (get it - terriers?? I kill me) on marketing this show, it's pretty damn good, but nobody I know has any interest in watching it with that name. They all think it's about dogs.

Their promos should have featured guns. Perhaps it would have resulted in higher viewership if people associated the show to the Smith & Wesson Terrier.

It's in the "it's so sad, that it's funny" category.

How many more episodes are there? Each one so far keeps sucking me in more and more.

I'd imagine the drop in viewers is entirely the result of the fact that people with Dish Network, like me, aren't getting FX at the moment. I don't care whose fault it is, but those jackholes need to sort that crap out quick.

Oh, and, great show. Wish I could continue watching it.

I think the other problem is that there really isn't as much of a big premise to really grab people as there is with a lot of the other big shows at the moment. When I recommend Breaking Bad to someone (and it's amazing how it seems how nobody has even heard of the show in real life), I can sum up the premise as "High school chemistry teacher gets cancer, cooks meth to try to provide for his family, things go wrong." Shows like Mad Men, Spartacus, Boardwalk Empire, Sons of Anarchy, and so on all have simple "hooks" that can be easily conveyed in commercials to lure in new viewers, but Terriers doesn't really have that. Sure, you can say it's about these two buddies who are private investigators, but that doesn't grab people as much as the premise of most other shows does.

Re: Terriers -- "Manifest Destiny" -- 10/06/10

I'm really liking this show. I hadn't read through a weekly thread yet, so I had no idea about the low ratings. That sucks. I've actually been enjoying Terriers more than both Sons of Anarchy and Dexter.

You can... http://www.casttv.com/shows/terriers

As a Dish subscriber, that's how I'm keeping up with Sons Of Anarchy, Terriers and It's Always Sunny In Philladelphia.

Re: Terriers -- "Manifest Destiny" -- 10/06/10

I don't think we can blame the DISH issue here -- Sutter said Sons of Anarchy's ratings went up this week.

I'm glad we're getting a season of this. I'd love to convince myself we'll get more, but it's just not gonna happen. Anybody remember Thief? I'm pretty sure they figured out it was going to be one and done, and it seems like they planned it out to end in a fitting way. I hope we get that here as well.

^ Yeah, Shawn Ryan has been promoting this tour on his Twitter feed. Friend of mine went to the St. Louis event yesterday -- haven't heard back how it was though.

+1

Very few shows these days have me completely mesmerized -- you know, where you snap back to reality at the end of the episode and wonder how 60 minutes went by so fast? This show does that to me.

Great write up in NY Mag of the show: http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment...hy_noir-y.html

No spoilers in it.

Gah! I hope this show lives on. Really enjoying it.

Finally caught last week's episode. Another solid ep. with a great balance between action & comedy.
