Re: DVD Talk New-To-DVD Theatrical Release and Discussion Thread

Would you care to share the artwork of The Expendables here?

Also, what happened to INCEPTION? Seems like everybody forgot about the big summer hit. Did anyone hear anything new on Inception, or just the same 12/7 date?

Inception is still penciled in for Dec 7th. the Offical Announce Date is Monday....so we shall see

also heard that Sony may be moving Salt up to Dec 7th. if this is the case, that may mean Warner bros may have pushed Inception out of 2010

I hope they didn't push it out of 2010. It really wouldn't make much sense on Warner Brother's part since Inception was their biggest grossing film of the summer and they would certainly want to capitalize on the holiday shopping season.
I've been reading on some sites that Salt is set for Dec. 7th so it looks like that is true.
Right now, all I care about is Inception and Shrek Forvever After. I assume we'll hear an official announcement for Shrek once How To Train Your Dragon is released, I guess?

Also, releasing it in December could give Inception a headstart at a Best Picture nomination.

Re: DVD Talk New-To-DVD Theatrical Release and Discussion Thread

Well Keep in mind The Best Picture Race is no longer limited to Five nominations, and has expanded to Ten. early Buzz has the following Films in that Race

- The Town
- HereAfter
- The Social Network
- Inception
- Shutter Island
- The King's Speech
- The Fighter
- Country Strong
- True Grit
- Conviction

The Black Swan is also considered a Hopeful.

so It really doesnt matter what film ends up in 2010, 80% of the nominees will be out in march/april

Re: DVD Talk New-To-DVD Theatrical Release and Discussion Thread

I just wish they'd start making announcements so I can start planning ahead because October looked brutal and I planned to use all my reward zone money and gift cards to ease the pain, but I'm now pulling back half of that stuff for what "seems" like a brutal December but if several slip into January that would help.

Will Piranha 3D look good on a 2D Plasma? I have Coraline and prefer to watch it in 2D. But it's more atmospheric in that film. To make the film come alive. Piranha looked in the ads like it had a lot more of things jumping out at you. I'm not sure what that will look like and if it's not good unless you have a 3D HDTV, I'll probably wait to pick it up when it's cheap.

Re: DVD Talk New-To-DVD Theatrical Release and Discussion Thread

I'll be honest about Pirahna, Like Journey to the Center of the earth from 2008, the 3D was the only real reason to see the movie. I really hated it. from all standpoints. First having Richard Dryfuss only make a cameo, was pointless. the Nudity was over excessive, the Blood and Gore was just plain dumb, it came off more like Final Destination with Fish. lets see how many diffrent ways we can make these Fish kill people. I wont post Spoilers, but seriously, they did a Death scene completely ripped off from Final Destination 2. The acting was horrible, and thats saying something considering i thought this would be tounge and cheek funny. but it was painful to sit through.

Id skip it, but thats just me

oh, you will be pleasently suprised as to TWO movies being offically Announced tommorow

Thanks, that's enough to make me not blind buy it at least and save some money. I wanted it because I heard it succeeded as campy fun, but if it failed at that, I can pass.

I'm still curious how these things will end up looking, because, I for one, don't find 3D enjoyable.
