It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia - “The Gang Buys a Boat” (9/30/10)

Synopsis:

One of the funniest episodes of Sunny ever. And that's saying something.


Dee dancing with the used car lot inflatable thing.

Charlie finding a horse's tooth in the harbor.

"How'd you lose that hand?" "Diabetes." **crickets**

Yeah, definitely better than the first two episodes of the season.

The "implication" stuff was absolute gold.

Definitely better than last week's episode, but once again "The League" brings more of the funny.

Did Frank drop an F-bomb when he was tearing the boat apart?

The Mac and Dennis conversations were gold this ep.

big step up from the previous two episodes, but it still felt a little tame. Definitely a move back in the right direction.

I love the final shot of the boat sinking and the inflatable tube man catching on fire

I liked Sweet Dee's dance and the ending, but so far this season has been a dud for me.

Best ep thus far (though that's not saying much). Always glad to see a Don Swayze sighting.

Better but still not back to form. The "implication" bits were pure Sunny but the rest not so much.

I thought this was an absolute Sunny classic. From the repeated references to their Dick Towel money to Charlie's discovery of an "underground world" beneath the boat to the inflatable dancing guy from the car lot, this was solid gold.

A few subtle things I found funny:
During the whole "implication" scene at the boat supply store, there was a sign above Dennis' head that said "Southside Tool."

At the end when Dee, Charlie, and Frank were on the boat, the catfish Charlie was talking about eating was on a plate. It was a whole fish, slightly burned, with a spoon stuck in it.

I loved the throw back to the gym/heart attack episode a few seasons back with the reference to Steve Winwood and how Dennis has his whole collection.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but following this episode I downloaded a Winwood song from Zune Marketplace.

Delaware River Catfish.

Ain't no shame in that. Winwood's got some great tunes. I prefer this cover to the original, though.

I think the "Zune Marketplace" bit is the source of the shame.

Agreed. Between his early work with Spencer Davis Group, all the great stuff Traffic put out, and his solo work nothing wrong with getting some Steve Winwood songs.
