Alright, I know it's a day early, but I thought I would go ahead and start this one.

Chip Johannessen, who worked on 24 last season and also produced Moonlight and Millenium, is the new showrunner for season 5.

I called Directv the other day and managed to snag all the Showtime and The Movie Channel channels for 1 year at $2.99 a month for being a longtime customer. So, I'm stoked as hell and ready to go.

*** If your still watching the DVD's or are a couple of seasons behind, don't read this thread. There will be spoilers galore. Hell if you haven't seen season 4 yet, the synopsis is a spoiler. Even the promo artwork is a spoiler ***

Does anyone know if this will be on iTunes to buy as the season is airing? Were previous seasons available as they aired?

Unfortunately, No. I don't think Itunes get the season until it hits home video.

That's horrible news. No matter how hard I try, I can never seem to make it to the DVD release without accidentally coming across spoilers.

Well, are you willing to subscribe to Showtime for at least the next 3 months? If not, then I would stay clear away from this thread or most entertainment news websites. The DVD for this new season probably won't be out until at least next summer.

I'm afraid I don't even get cable/ satellite, so subscribing is out of the question. I was really hoping iTunes was an option. I always try to avoid spoilers, but before you know it, you turn the page in a magazine, and there it is. For last season (before I ever saw season four) I kept seeing the actress who plays Rita in previews for a new series on ABC, so I kind of had a feeling how that was going to end up. I hate that.

The day after the season finale aired, EW.com posted a headline about it. I recall so many people who don't get Showtime put very angry posts on the website complaining about the spoiler because they don't get Showtime and wait for the DVD's. But, if all fairness, the episode did air already.

There is no way Showtime or HBO would sell their new programs ala carte on Itunes at $2-3 an episode after they air. Basic cable channels do offer that option though.

Pretty cool. In preparation for this show, I called DirectTV to switch from HBO to Showtime, and in the process they knocked $10 off a month for a year. Not as good as the free year of Showtime they gave me in 2009 but pretty good.

I vaguely remember episodes being available either on the xbox live marketplace or netflix pretty quickly after they aired last year.

If you know anyone with Showtime and Comcast you can try signing up to fancast and watch the episodes from there. I do that for HBO shows all the time. I don't have any kind of cable, but my parents have HBO so i'm able to sign on with their info.
