Bleak reviews for this one. Probably won't bother to check it out unless it sticks around for a while.

Thursday at 8, ABC? Every other network will destroy you. Can't even watch this as too much else is on.

No that will probably go to Lone Star. Thursday at 8pm has been a problem for ABC and this is going against Bones, Community and The Big Bang Theory & Shit my Dad says...Not looking good.
I try alot of stuff, but I just can't fit this one in.

FOX is giving Lone Star at least one more shot. ABC won't be that patient... My Generation is one and done.

Of all the new shows on the 4 big networks, this was the one that I felt would be the weakest from the previews. Honestly it looked like something The CW would make, complete with stripped down budget.

Re: My Generation -- New Series -- "Pilot" 9/23/10
Watched this off the DVR a few min ago..
Felt like they had way too many characters in the mix.. Reminded me a lot of that crappy show "Reunion" from 2005.. I think that was like 5 or 6 main characters but it also had one main story arc.. Where as this show has around 10 main characters and it was just jump cut after jump cut as they bounced around from person to person. Throw in the random screen shrinking to a tiny window with even faster jump cut "home movies" etc and my eyes are just tired from watching the show.
total lack of dimensions to the characters too and that sucks if you are going to throw 10 of them at a person in every ep.
I might record a few more eps but IMO one can almost guess where all the story lines are going right now, after just one ep and that's not a good sign at all. In fact I could see where the story lines were going just in this ep, that's even worse..
oh and Kelli Garner's character needs to hurry up and have her kid so she can go back to being hot.

ABC is not having much luck with their new shows.
My Generation finished with 5.22 million viewers, and got a 1.6 in 18-49. More viewers than Community, but worse in 18-49. For a show that is geared so heavily to a young audience, I can't see ABC sticking with this very long.
As for the actual show...what a mess. I really hate the idea that 9 people they pick for the "documentary" would have significant parts of their lives tied so closely with the major events of the last decade. The 2000 Election, 9/11, Enron...yes, those were big events, but jeez did any of these people have anything go on in their lives that didn't involve a major national event?
Or how about the fact that it seems like these people only seem to be tied to eachother after a decade? Sure, maybe the guy in Hawaii got away from it, and maybe the chick in DC did, but the rest still seem to be tied to eachother and haven't grown much past high school, even though none of them are supposedly the same people they were back then.

They plugged the HELL out of this show in the movies during the summer. I must've seen previews for this for 3 months during that pre-show countdown crap before the trailers started. This show looked absolutely terrible. One line has been stuck in my mind since June:
Teacher: What are mp3s?
Student: Oh, you'll find out!
People sure as hell knew what mp3s were in 2000. It was just stupid.
The reviews I've read have been abysmal. I have no interest in watching it but I hope it dies a quick death since it looks horrid.

Yeah, if I recall Napster was in it's heyday back in 2000. I didn't even see the preview but that line in the actual show was when I finally hit stop/delete on the DVR.
How does this stuff even get past the script stage without someone realizing it's horrible?

I couldn't even make it to the first commercial break. When I saw that the first two student's lives had turned out to be 180 degrees from where they thought they would be, I figured the rest would end up being the same. Plus, using big events as a jumping point for the character's changes felt clunky to me.

I actually managed to watch the second episode of this. I must be a masochist.
Anyway, I seem to be about the only person that actually did watch the second episode.
3.94 million viewers, 18-49: 1.1.
That's Lone Star type numbers there. I can't see ABC running this out there for another week.

Re: My Generation -- New Series -- "Pilot" 9/23/10
plus once again, even with 9+ character story lines going at the same time every single one is pure by the numbers boring predicable stuff..
Like this ep had a "punk girl" flash back talking to the principal about him needed to talk her mom.. First -this is what will happen next- that pops into your head? She might fake the call? Hey you win.. and why would she do that? Oh hey right again, her mom left her..
So why would she be acting like the mom is still there? Hey right again, being she had a younger brother... yawn.. We also have a guy who wanted to marry girl #1, but married girl number #2.. of course girl #1 and #2 run into each other..
on a plus note, Kelli Garner is hawt but this show is doomed. Making everyone a pure stereo type, doing stereo type actions makes for a very boring show..
edit... whoops.. 8min later I read it's been canceled..

I know show's get canned every season but I never thought Lone Star and this one would be the first two, they were just hyped way too much.. oh well. better luck next season..

Have you read even one positive review on this show? Noone liked it and obviously Nielsen families didn't either that's why it's gone. I knew off the bat the odd docu-style format wasn't going to click with audiences.

The biggest problem with this show as another poster pointed was having the characters being stereotypes. The show is mostly boring. I do like Steven and Dawn the most. I find Brenda, Anders, and Jackie to be lame.

Look at the good reviews for Lonestar. It's canceled.

I couldn't disagree more. If something I like gets cancelled, at least I have those episodes to enjoy. Do you think all the Firefly fans wish the show was never created since it ended up getting cancelled? While it may not have a conclusion, most shows that have finales don't satisfy a lot of the fans anyway. Look at Lost and The Sopranos.
