Update: My previous The Twilight Saga: New Moon speculative Blu-ray Disc and DVD release date turned out to be off the mark, most likely due to the film's extended theatrical run.

According to VideoETA, Summit Entertainment has alerted retailers that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Blu-ray and DVD release date is Saturday, December 4. The Saturday release date follows in the footsteps of Twight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon. The reason of course is to throw big midnight relese parties on Friday night.

The expected bonus features for the Blu-ray version are as follows:

* 2 Audio Commentaries: one with Rob Pattinson & Kristen Stewart; the other with Stephenie Meyer
* Deleted and Extended Scenes
* Photo Gallery
* 6-Part Making of Documentary
* Jump to... Your favorite scenes
* Music Videos
* BD Exclusive: PIP Commentary

Eclipse on Blu-ray will be available in a two-disc special edition set with the aforementioned bonus features at an SRP of $40.99, and a movie-only release at $34.99. The DVD version shares the same configuration.

Two releases? Ugh. I hope the BD+DVD is not a 'Flipper' disc and just an individual DVD.

With it being a Summit release I can pretty much guarantee you that it will be a flipper. They did the same thing recently with The Ghost Writer.

This crap is back in theatres starting tomorrow for.....
Get this "In Honor of Bella's Birthday" on Sept 13th.

I couldnt believe this when i saw the poster come in at work earlier this week, we had finally just lost this piece of crap movie 2 weeks ago now were booked with it again.

I know what its meant for (been workin in the theatre exhibition industry for well over a decade) Doesnt change the fact the way they are marketing this is little limited re release is even cheesier than the movie.

It will be very lucky if (and its a big) if they are able to eek out another 1.3 million this weekend. Not likely though with Resident Evil 4 opening (and tracking pretty high) this weekend but who knows it might be able to pull it off.
Not likely though its pretty much played out.

They should instead put back in Theaters all the movies that made a shitty box office amount the first time around, like Scott Pilgrim, instead. I guess Theaters hate to make money.

I think it still may be a separte dvd. The cover art for Ghost Writer also said "Both Versions on One Disc".

That's my thought with it as well. Hope it's a separate disc so I can just sell it off (looks like that is the only version with a Slip Cover).

For those few that care..

The BD+DVD is a 'Flipper' disc. BD on one side, DVD on the other.

Unlike earlier reports, the BD side does house all the Special Features.

Thanks for the warning. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for the BD only version.

I've been puzzled by the lack of price drops on Twilight titles. I've never seen bargain prices for either Twilight or New Moon, unlike just about any other BD title that has been out for more than six months or a year. Iron Man 2 will be $10 a few months after it was released but Twilight is still $27 a year and a half after the BD release. I don't get it.

That doesn't surprise me; I can do without the special features, as can the friend I am also shopping for. But I won't accept $20 prices and will continue to wait for pricing to come down, however long it takes.
