Hard Boiled >> 12/14/2010

VideoETA says 12/14/10. Hopefully in 1080p and not 1080i.

Not gonna celebrate. It'll probly be 1080i and dubtitled. Prove me wrong.

Only the first 2 releases were 1080i. Not that it isn't lame, but I think we've passed that argument.

No thanks, I've got it included in my copy of Stranglehold! In fact, I think I'll watch it now.

OH GOD MY EYES!

Yes, but they already own the rights to release these AND the past few releases were initially Best Buy exclusives, which leads me to believe Best Buy fronted the initial production costs and anything that rolls in after they get paid is pure profit.

Re: Hard Boiled >> 12/14/2010

I expect dubtitles (seems unlikely they'd stop now), but I'm hoping for a good A/V presentation otherwise, and all the 2-disc extras.

+1

I highly doubt that they will be doing new subtitles for this release but at least I hope that they give us a better A/V presentation similar to "Tai Chi Master".

Re: Hard Boiled >> 12/14/2010

I was able to get a hold of this blu-ray and I can tell you the following:

-The picture is 1080p and looks good, considering the rough history that Hong Kong movies have.
-There is a DTS track, but for a movie like this it is not really needed.
-The movie does have "dubtitles', though.

I love this movie and I don't see a better edition coming out anytime soon.

yes the same "John Woo approved" dubtitles from the Criterion release. LOL

An excellent hi-res comparison between both DD Blu and DVD right here

Hardly seems like a comparison at all, does it?

Still, like Mr. Rules says above, we won't likely see anything better this late in the game. Definitely a pass here . . .

If subtitles are all that matters to you, then yes. I have the DD Blu and the Tartan, for completeness sake.
