well to be fair to Alba, she did show some skin in 'the killer inside me' (and it wasn't a double either) just sayin

Looking forward to this. I'm not sure if he has any parts in the film this time, but my wife's first cousin is the singer for Rodriguez's band "Chingon".

Caught a free advanced screening last night- fan-fucking-tastic. Seriously, I've wanted to see this since Grindhouse was in theaters almost 3 and a half years ago. It delivered on everything I hoped for and more. It had great action and humor, solid performances all around and some nice boobies too hahaha.
It would have been well worth the $10 I was planning on spending to see it.
And there were no faux trailers before the movie or anything after the credits.

Thanks for the reminder, will do so now.
haha, it was an interesting movie... it carried itself well and knew what it was going for. A very fun movie to watch that carried a certain level of filth to it to hold it somewhat true to the movies it was reliving. I knew I wanted to love it but I know how easily I could have been disappointed and I wasn't. Check it out if you had any interest in seeing it. Help get MK and MKA made

I liked it but didn't love it. The plot was fairly uninteresting and there was quite a lot of time spent on it. If the movie had been 20 minutes shorter it would have been amazing. I did love the action sequences and the tone overall, not to mention Alba, Rodriguez and the twins have never looked hotter IMO... but the middle sagged a ton and the very best parts were in the Grindhouse trailer - so while I think it's worth seeing, it's a very mild recommendation for those reasons. 3.25/5

Entertaining, but ultimately a let down. Whoever edited this film should never work again. While it felt like tons of footage was cut from the final film, it also felt too long. I'm sure there will be an extended cut on dvd, but I'm not sure it will help.
I really liked Don Johnson (wish he had more screen time) and Jeff Fahey, but Trejo was a bit disappointing. I just think he's much better in small doses.
I've been begging for this film to be made ever since the opening night of Grindhouse, but I almost wish all we got was the faux trailer.
Trailer 5/5
Film 3/5

Re: Machete (Maniquis, Rodriguez, 2010) The Reviews Thread
Machete was just okay. I think Jamie S. Rich's DVD Talk review of the film is as spot on as you can get. Was it fun? Sure. But it all seemed rather pointless and I was often disinterested in the story. Robert Rodriguez has never been what I have wanted him to be. That's selfish of me, but frustrating at the same time. He totally gets what kinds of movies, characters, and content that I'd love to see, but time and time again I find fault in his actual execution. With a few tweaks here and there throughout his career, I think he'd be one of the greatest directors of his generation. I still give him credit for giving Trejo a starring role because the man deserves it. Every actor did what they were supposed to, so no fault there. And damn if Michelle Rodriguez and Jessica Alba weren't mind-blowingly hot! I think this will play better at home, and I look forward to it's release.

Just saw it with my dad and several friends, and we all had a blast. Just a great fun movie, that doesnt take it self too seriously. The porn music was getting a lot of laughter/clapping from the audience, as well as the extreme kills.
As a Steven Seagal fan I loved that
Bring on Machete Kills!

Re: Machete (Maniquis, Rodriguez, 2010) The Reviews Thread
I don't know what some people are complaining about, this was EASILY the most fun I've had in a theater since Black Dynamite. Trejo is the fucking man! I was grinning from ear to ear seeing something so awesome populated with some great names. C'mon, you've got Jeff Fahey, Don Johnson, Steven Seagal, Cheech Marin, etc. headlining a grindhouse film in 2010? Doesn't get much better than that for genre fans. And the film never felt like it was lagging. The action is swift, fast and brutal. I couldn't get enough of this universe, and I'd love to see both teased sequels get made (though I know that'll most likely never happen). This movie also reminded me how badly I want to fuck Michelle Rodriguez. She looked incredible during the end battle.
I voted 4 stars, but now I'm thinking 4 1/2; it's such a goddamn fun time at the movies.

I just wonder if Machete 2/3 will ever get made, and if they do, will it be in a reasonable time frame since Trejo is older, and RR can't really pull a Sin City 2 with Trejo's age as a factor

Just saw this last night at a midnight show and had a blast. It actually lived up to the fake trailer.
Just curious about something though. I don't get offended easliy, but I wonder how many here in the US will be offended by the movie's portrayal of Americans and the whole race-war aspect of the film.
Favorite scenes:
Also, did I miss it or was the shot of Machete opening his coat with all the knives cut from the movie?
